About international schools in Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok’s international schools form a large, diverse market centred on English-medium teaching and a mix of curricula - most commonly British (IGCSE/A-level), the International Baccalaureate (PYP/MYP/DP) and American (US grades/AP), with a smaller number offering French, Japanese, Singaporean or bilingual programmes. Schools are required to teach Thai language and culture components and many also offer mother-tongue or second-language streams (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean and European languages are widely available). Published tuition in the city ranges widely - from well under 100,000 THB a year at lower-fee schools to more than 1.2 million THB at premium campuses, with a large cluster of mid-market schools around the c.300,000 THB mark - and most families should budget separately for application/registration, development levies, transport and meals. The main intake aligns with an August school year start, schools accept applications throughout the year but recommend applying several months (and for popular schools up to a year) before an August entry; older children commonly face entrance assessments and waiting lists at oversubscribed schools.
