Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is promoted through the Advisory Program. Every Middle and Upper School student has a faculty adviser who meets weekly. Advisory focuses on belonging, relationships, and connections and meets for 30 minutes, balancing small-group bonding with grade-level programming that promotes SEL. The SGS Advisor supports advisees over the four years and acts as an advocate through a compassionate, caring, and responsive relationship.

Mental Wellbeing

Counseling services are available, with Meghan Kilgore and Kelsey Nylund serving as the school's counselors. The Family Connection (Naviance) provides access to college counseling and serves as a hub for communication between counselors, students, and families. Students work with their advisors weekly to support their social and emotional development and wellbeing.

Safeguarding

Saint George's maintains a safe, inclusive environment and is committed to a community free of discrimination, violence, bullying, and harassment. The school addresses safety and behavior through policies such as Bullying and Harassment, with the safety of students and the community being paramount. Violations can include counseling, suspension, or expulsion, and a defined flow for conflict resolution directs issues to the Head of Upper School or Head of School. Specific safeguards include a ban on dangerous weapons on campus and clear guidelines on reporting and addressing safety concerns.

Admissions

Admissions

Become a Dragon. Applications are accepted year round, with those completed before April 1 receiving first priority. The online application is handled through Finalsite Enrollment and requires setting up an account to begin the process. After the online application is submitted, a student visit and assessment day is scheduled so the student can experience SGS firsthand, with a virtual option for out-of-area or international applicants. 1) Become a Dragon. 2) Submit the online application and pay the applicable fee. 3) Schedule a student visit and assessment day (virtual options available for international applicants). 4) Provide required supporting materials and references as requested. 5) Submit and upload progress reports, end-of-year reports, standardized test scores (if taken), immunization records and SGS Emergency Card, and a current student photo. 6) Provide academic references by requesting teacher recommendations through the enrollment system (the number of recommendations required varies by grade). 7) Complete immunization records and the SGS Emergency Card. 8) Await admission decision; if accepted with space and an available grant, sign the contract and enroll; if there is no space or no grant, you may enter a waitpool for the class or consider reapplying in the future. 9) If space and/or grant become available, enrollment proceeds; if not, the process may be revisited in a future admissions cycle.

Scholarships

Global Academic Excellence Scholarship is a $4,000 award for new international students (F-1) based on entering grade point average, test scores, and personal profile, recognizing outstanding academics, character, leadership, and global citizenship. An individual review is available for applicants who do not meet the standard criteria, with the Selection Committee weighing all aspects of the applicant's profile. International students are eligible for this scholarship through SGS's International Student program. Financial aid in general is available through SGS's FIT program; the Financial Aid Committee determines which applicants receive grants based on funds and enrollment needs, and a financial aid waiting list may be used. Applying for financial aid is the last step after acceptance, via the Clarity system, and grants are not guaranteed to cover full tuition.

Waitlist

The school uses a waitpool for the class when there is no space and/or no fit grant available. The admissions flowchart shows entering the waitpool for the class at points where space is unavailable or a grant is not yet awarded, and notes that applicants may consider re-applying in the future. If space becomes available or a grant is offered, accepted applicants move forward with enrollment; otherwise, consideration may occur in a future cycle.
