Denver Center for International Studies (DCIS) is a Denver Public Schools magnet middle school located in the Baker neighbourhood of Denver at 574 W. Sixth Ave. The school emphasises an international-studies curriculum within the district framework, offering Advanced Placement courses alongside honors, concurrent-enrolment and career-technical options. DCIS currently enrolls middle‑school grades (6–8) and requires students to study a world language; instruction is delivered in English (the school states it is not a language‑immersion programme). Languages taught at DCIS include Mandarin (Chinese), Japanese, Lakota and Spanish, and world‑language study is one of five required content areas. Distinctive elements of the programme include a DCIS Diploma of International Studies available to students who meet global‑leadership requirements, a portfolio and service‑learning components, and an emphasis on multilingualism, intercultural competence and educational travel supported in part by the DCIS Foundation.
