About international schools in Lagos, Nigeria
Lagos’s international schools form a large, mixed market serving diplomatic missions, oil and gas and banking families, and returning Nigerian households, and commonly offer British (Cambridge/IGCSE and A-level), American (US standards / high-school diploma) and International Baccalaureate pathways. English is the usual medium of instruction, though a small number of specialist bilingual schools teach primarily in French, German or other European languages and many schools provide French, Spanish, Mandarin and Nigerian languages as additional subjects. Annual tuition varies widely across the city, with value or Nigerian-stream international options at the lower end and fully international premium schools charging much higher sums; some premium schools now link fees to the US dollar. The main intake follows the Northern-Hemisphere school year (late summer / September) but many schools accept mid-year or rolling admissions; parents should be ready to submit passports, recent school reports, immunisation records and proof of visa/residence, and note that yellow fever vaccination is required for entry to Nigeria.
