- Debit and credit card payments are accepted (online payment gateway available via the school's payment links). The school operates an online payment facility using a payment gateway for card payments.
- Payments may also be made through designated banks and by submitting bank tellers as proof of payment; the school's business office processes and records such payments. Parents are required to submit payment evidence to the business office within the stated acceptance window following enrolment.
Consequences of late or non-payment
- The school applies its published rules for late or non-payment, which can include administrative penalties and the requirement to clear outstanding fees before a pupil is permitted to continue on-site activities. History
History
Avi-Cenna International School began in Lagos, Nigeria in 1989, founded by Mr. and Mrs. Foudeh who came to Nigeria from Jordan, starting with seventy students and eight teachers. The school's name honors Avicenna, the Persian polymath known as The Prince of Physicians. The school expanded steadily and is now a well established co-educational school following the National Curriculum for England and Wales. It serves the Nigerian community and expatriates who are seeking a British education in Lagos, offering education from Pre-School to Secondary.
History
The first Corona School, Ikoyi Day Nursery, opened in March 1955. Corona School Gbagada opened in 1956 and, after earlier locations in Ebute-Metta and Yaba, relocated to its permanent site in Gbagada in October 1974. Corona School Ikoyi was established in February 1960 and presently has a capacity of 575 pupils. Corona School Victoria Island opened in 1967 and has been led by several headteachers, with the current head of school being Mrs. Olaitan Shogaolu. Officers include Chairperson (Parent member), Vice-Chairperson (Parent member), Secretary (Teacher member), Assistant Secretary (Teacher member), Treasurer (Parent member) and Financial Secretary (Teacher member). A Class Representative from each year group can be appointed to serve on the Executive Committee. The PTA is an advisory body and does not interfere in the day-to-day running of the School; the designing of all School policies is the responsibility of the School Board and Management.
Parent teacher association
Corona School Ikoyi has a vibrant Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA supports strong partnerships between home and school. The PTA participates in major milestones, including the Corona Schools' Platinum Anniversary flag-off in December 2024, where the PTA and Alumni Association were represented.
