Japanische Schule in Hamburg is a co-educational day school located in Halstenbek, Hamburg, that follows Japan's national curriculum for kindergarten through junior high, using Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology approved textbooks to ensure continuity for students transferring in or out during the year. In the German setting, it provides English and German language instruction in every grade and incorporates exchanges with local schools and field trips to develop language skills and intercultural understanding. Language classes are taught by native teachers to foster practical communication across languages. The school participates in the Ministry of Education's International Understanding Education program as a partner school, pursuing cross-cultural themes and global problem solving. The kindergarten, primary, and middle school share a single campus and engage in joint events and cross-grade activities, such as sports day, the Moine Festival, and Fasching, strengthening community. Facilities include a red-brick campus, a 13,000-book library, science, music, home economics, and art rooms, a gym, and outdoor grounds with cherry blossoms and a field.
