Chartwell International School operates across several Belgrade campuses, delivering education for ages 2 to 18. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Safeguarding and pastoral care are the school's priority, creating a welcoming, safe, caring, and supportive environment where every student is valued. The program aims to prevent harm, protect students from harm, and provide ongoing support to students and staff when safeguarding concerns arise. History

Chartwell International School has been successfully operating in Belgrade for 25 years. It was the first school in Belgrade to offer the British National Curriculum. It is accredited as an international school and examination center by the University of Cambridge and recognized by the Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development. Since 1998, when it opened, Chartwell has grown from a Foundation and Primary with about 16 students and 9 staff to a school serving children from age 2 to 18, numbering over 1000 students of 60 nationalities and about 180 staff.

Community

Chartwell fosters a school community with events across Pre-School to Upper Secondary. It participates in charity events as part of the UnfinishEDU project with Green School by Chartwell. United Nations Day is celebrated with activities across the school, and field trips include visits to the Botanical Garden in Belgrade.

Facilities Overview

The school operates seven buildings, including Nursery-Foundation, Lower Primary, Upper Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary, located in a quiet Belgrade residential area. The classrooms are spacious and bright, with park-like gardens surrounding the premises. The grounds include quiet shady areas for study and relaxation as well as spaces for outdoor activities. On site are sport fields for football, basketball, volleyball and tennis.

Sports Facilities

Chartwell Secondary School Campus has covered sports fields for volleyball, basketball, football and badminton. The gym is equipped for gymnastics with a balance beam, climbing rope, ladder, vault and mats. There are changing rooms in the gym, along with lighting and heating for use in all weather. An outdoor sports field is also available.

Academic Facilities

Upper Secondary Premises include 21 classrooms, IT and Science labs, an Art classroom, a library, a study hall and a dining area, with sports fields nearby. Lower Secondary features a science lab, a music room, an art room, ICT, a media room, language and mathematics classrooms. The library provides a wide range of resources to support independent research, and pupils can borrow material as well as access a school-supported online reading platform. The school maintains a network of computers that provides coordinated and protected internet access, and students are encouraged to use computers across the curriculum with cyber safety guidance. Cambridge ICT Starters introduces young learners to essential ICT applications.

Extra Curricular Facilities

The Performing Arts programme includes music, dance, drama and debate at all levels. Residential trips, school trips and a variety of excursions are a regular part of Chartwell life, alongside charity events, theatre visits and exhibitions. Students participate in cultural activities such as museum visits, book fairs, theatre and art events, and other community-facing activities. Green School by Chartwell offers nature‑based learning on Ada Ciganlija, Belgrade, on a 20,000 m² green campus dedicated to immersive, eco-friendly learning.

Chartwell International School uses the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, based on the British National Curriculum. Cambridge Primary is designed for the first six years of schooling (Year 1–Year 6) and is organized into six stages. Chartwell has a music and drama program with highly qualified teachers that help students express themselves confidently. Step 1: Contact the School Secretary. The Admissions team will provide you with an Application Pack. If you wish to visit in person and possibly have a tour of the school premises, contact us for an appointment.
Step 2: Complete and return all requested forms and supporting documents to the School Secretary at your earliest convenience. The completed Application Form; A copy of your and your child's passport or birth certificate; Copies of the two most recent school reports (if not available in English, an English translation must be provided); The signed Home - School Agreement form; A copy of any assessments and medical, psycho-educational reports (only where requested).
All documents must be completed in English and/or translated into English. Please be aware that unless all papers are completed, your child's application cannot be processed.
Step 3: Decision on Admission. After receipt of a complete set of application papers the School Secretary will confirm receipt by email if you have not brought them in personally. The School Counseling Team takes the final decision on acceptance. The process of review usually takes a couple of days and the School Secretary will contact you immediately with the result. When a place for a student is available the School Secretary will offer it immediately. However, if a place is not available, the candidate's name will be placed on the respective waiting list and the School Secretary will contact the family again if and when a place becomes available.
