Introduction

International School of Riga Secondary is based at Skanstes iela 27 in central Riga and serves students aged 11 to 18. The secondary section includes Middle School for ages 11–15 and High School for ages 15–18. Students in Grades 6–10 follow the IB Middle Years Programme, while Grades 11–12 follow the IB Diploma Programme. English is the language of instruction, with French, Latvian and Spanish offered as additional languages, alongside English as an Additional Language support. The school was established in 1997 and now enrols over 330 students across both campuses. The Secondary Campus is located near the Rimi Olympic Centre, which the school uses for physical education. Distinctive secondary features include MYP interdisciplinary units, the MYP personal project, DP Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, Creativity Activity Service, university counselling, experiential learning, internships and community service opportunities within Riga.
