The Surabaya European School was founded in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya with an AMI-trained teacher. In 2001, in collaboration with the British International School Jakarta, the school adopted the British National Curriculum. From a class of seven children, including the founder's own, SES has grown to around 170 students representing 17 nationalities, offering education from Montessori-age 3 through IGCSE in Years 10-11 and A Levels in Years 12-13, while maintaining a family atmosphere and a focus on each student's educational and emotional growth.
