- Examination fees and any exam concessions, optional trips (A‑level optional visits), certain course materials (e.g., physical materials for DT) and travel on College bus services are charged as supplemental items and billed in addition to the basic fees.
- Insurances: Personal accident and travel insurance (for College trips) are included in the basic fee; personal effects insurance for Senior School pupils is included or available; optional schemes (Pupil Absence Insurance, Private Healthcare, School Fees Insurance) are available through the College and are charged termly if taken.
- Endowment Fund (voluntary donation): suggested contribution GBP 50 per family per term; this is added to the first bill unless parents opt out in writing.
- Uniform: all pupils must wear College uniform; nearly all uniform items (except shoes and Sixth Form suits) are purchased from the College's appointed supplier (Stevensons) and the on‑site uniform shop is cashless. Second‑hand uniform is available via the College's Second Hand Uniform Shop. Uniform guides are issued for the current year. Expect a separate outlay for initial uniform purchase.
Deposits, sibling discounts and allowances
- Deposit (see above) is payable prior to entry and is retained until the pupil leaves and is credited to the final account. The commitment fee is refunded on joining. The deposit and commitment fee are non‑refundable if a child does not take up a place, except in tightly defined circumstances where the vacancy is filled.
- Sibling discounts on basic fees when two or more children from the same immediate family attend concurrently: two siblings 2.5%; three siblings 7.5%; four siblings 12.5%.
Billing schedule and payment terms
- Annual fees are divided into three equal parts and charged termly; each term's fees are invoiced in advance and fall due for payment on the first day of that term. Termly fees (including regular boarding charges) are charged in advance and are due on the first day of term. Supplemental charges are included on invoices and are due on or before the first day of the next term (or following agreed instalment arrangements).
- Payment options and instalments: (i) pay each term in full in advance by direct debit or direct bank transfer by the first day of the term; or (ii) pay by direct debit in up to four monthly instalments for a term, with instalment schedules for each term commencing no later than 30 July (Michaelmas term), 30 November (Lent term) and 28 February (Summer term). The College will issue separate invoices that evidence the instalment agreement. Termly fees may also be paid online (Flywire) by card where that facility is used for registration, deposits, event payments and card payments of termly fees quoting the College account number.
- Late payment: the College may refuse attendance or withhold references if fees remain unpaid; interest of up to 1% per month may be charged on overdue amounts and parents are responsible for the College's reasonable costs of recovery.
Refunds, withdrawal and fees in lieu of notice
- Deposit and commitment fee: the deposit and commitment fee are generally non‑refundable if the child does not take up the place; the commitment fee is refunded if the pupil joins and the deposit may only be refunded in limited circumstances if the vacancy created is filled and administrative costs are met.
- Notice to withdraw: to withdraw a pupil you must give written notice in accordance with the contract. Specific notice rules apply:
- If withdrawing at the end of National Curriculum Years 8 or 11, two terms' notice is required or two terms' fees in lieu of notice must be paid.
- For withdrawal at other times, one term's notice is required or one term's fees in lieu of notice must be paid.
- The deposit may be credited against any fees in lieu of notice. No notice is required for pupils leaving at the normal end of sixth form.
- Illness or absence: there is generally no entitlement to a refund or reduction in fees for pupil illness or absence; however, the College offers a Pupil Absence Insurance Scheme (optional) which provides refunds under its terms where a pupil is absent through illness or accidental injury for a qualifying period. Parents should consult the Finance Office for details and application forms.
Insurance and absence cover
- The basic termly fee includes personal accident insurance (including dental cover) and travel insurance for College‑organised trips; additional insurance products (Pupil Absence Insurance, Private Healthcare, School Fees Insurance) are available as optional, chargeable schemes and are arranged and charged termly if taken. The Pupil Absence Insurance Scheme provides refunds of fees where a pupil is absent due to illness or accidental injury for four consecutive days or more (with a maximum refund period and other conditions specified by the provider).
How to pay (practical payment details)
- The College operates an online payment facility (Flywire) for registration fees, acceptance deposits, event payments and for card payment of termly fees (quote the College account number when paying via that service). Direct debit and direct bank transfer are accepted for termly payments and for instalment arrangements; the Finance Office issues invoices and manages the instalment agreements. The College may request documentation about the source of funds where required and allocates payments to pupil accounts as set out in the contract.
Practical points for parents about expected additional outlays
- Initial uniform purchase (new items and any required Sixth Form suit) is a separate cost and should be budgeted for; most uniform items (except shoes and Sixth Form suits) are supplied through the College supplier and the on‑site shop is cashless. Second‑hand uniform is available via the College's Second Hand Uniform Shop. Instrument hire, exam entry fees, specialist materials for certain courses, optional trips and optional private insurances represent the main additional predictable outlays beyond the basic termly fee.
Key contact for fee queries and payments
- Queries about invoices, instalments, deposits, payments, insurances and the Fees In Advance scheme should be directed to the College Finance Office; the College provides invoices and a Parent Portal for account details and issues. Payment may be made by direct debit, direct bank transfer/BACS or via the College's Flywire online payment service as described above.
