Al Khor International School (AKIS) is a large, co-educational all-through school in Al Khor Community, about 40 kilometres north of Doha. Uniform Requirement
The Uniform Guide states that uniform is compulsory for all students to wear completely and neatly. The uniform includes a light blue polo shirt worn with dark grey skirts, pinafores or trousers, knee-length bottoms, and blue PE kit. An optional solid black hijab is allowed for Muslim girls and a black abaya is optional for Qatari nationals; black formal shoes and black or grey socks complete the uniform.
Food Options
The tuck-shop sells healthy food at break times. The school promotes healthy eating through food technology lessons and healthy eating competitions; students have regular access to sports during and after the school day.
House System
The school has five pastoral houses: Arabian Horses, Camels, Falcons, Oryx and Whale Sharks. They are overseen by Housemasters who ensure academic progress and maintain high standards of behavior and uniform; each student is known and supported by their Housemaster.

The AKIS community participates in world‑renowned programmes such as Model United Nations (MUN) and the Duke of Edinburgh International Award as core features of its leadership programme. The school hosts Leavers' Ceremony in 2023 for Year 12 and 13 students to celebrate the completion of their school education. AKIS students have distinctions in the International Physics Olympiad 2023. Year 12 students Nadia Thayyiba and Salwa Putri Andini Nurul Ummah won first and second prize respectively in the SRS BSME Art Competition.

Language Provision
Arabic Language is taught as a First Language for students whose mother tongue is Arabic. Islamic Studies is delivered in Arabic for native Arabic speakers; for non-native Arabic, Islamic Studies is delivered in English. Qatar History is delivered in Arabic for students whose first language is Arabic and is studied up to Year 9 under the MoEHE curriculum.

Waiting List: If a place is unavailable, the applicant is placed on a waiting list from the date AKIS receives a completed registration form.
