Application fees
- There is no application fee to apply to Gjøvik videregående skole through the public admissions system (VIGO) for students with ordinary youth admission rights.
Tuition fees (by year group / term / academic year)
- Gjøvik videregående skole is a public upper secondary school. Instruction and attendance for eligible students do not carry tuition charges; there are no regular per-term or per-year tuition fees for students with right to public videregående opplæring.
- Some specific items are chargeable (see sections below). These are billed separately from any notion of tuition and vary by item and by program (for example special equipment for vocational programmes).
Specific, programme- or service-related fees (per year / per term)
- Elev‑PC (standard/medium/high‑end): an annual own contribution is charged for the school-supplied laptop. The annual own contribution for the school year 2026/2027 is NOK 1,497 per year, payable over up to three years as described in the agreement. Faktura for elev‑PC sendes én gang i året om høsten. If the pupil leaves mid-year there are rules that can require payment for the started school year (see PC terms).
- Private candidate (privatist) exam fees (per exam): the exam administration charges an exam fee. Current listed amounts are NOK 1,403 for a subject not previously passed and NOK 2,808 for improving an already passed subject; these fees are per exam and are payable at registration. Innbetalt eksamensavgift refunderes ikke ved avmelding eller utsettelse.
- Replacement or repair charges for school equipment: in cases of loss, theft or damage to an elev‑PC beyond warranty coverage, a per‑case own contribution (for repair or replacement equipment) is NOK 500. If a loaned textbook is not returned or is damaged beyond reuse, the pupil/guardian must pay the cost to replace the item.
- Public transport / school travel costs where applicable: eligible pupils may receive free school transport when distance/criteria are met; pupils without entitlement must cover travel costs themselves. Replacement school travel cards carry a charge (listed replacement cost NOK 150). Additional local county supplements for away‑from‑home pupils include contributions to period travel cards (an example figure shown for a county support package is NOK 240 per month added to the supplement).
- Cafeteria / daily meals: food and drinks in the school canteen are sold to pupils; prices vary by item. Payment in the canteen is accepted by card, Vipps and cash.
- Programme‑specific equipment and clothing: some vocational and programme courses require pupils to provide work clothing, specialised tools or consumable materials (for example cook's clothing, art materials, calculators). Pupils can apply for the national equipment stipend (utstyrsstipend) to cover such costs; stipend amounts depend on the programme area.
Billing schedule and payment terms
- Elev‑PC: the agreement signer (person over 18 who signs the PC agreement) receives an annual invoice once each autumn. Payment obligations for a started school year apply if training is interrupted after 1 October as stated in the PC agreement.
- Privatist (private exam) fees: payment is required at time of registration and only card payment (Visa/Mastercard) is accepted in the private‑exam portal; the registration is not valid until payment is made. Paid exam fees are not refunded if the candidate withdraws or postpones.
- School travel: entitlements to free travel must be applied for each year; replacement cards and specific refunds/use‑cases follow the county's procedures and listed charges (e.g., replacement card NOK 150). Processing times and payment/refund rules are set by the transport authority.
- Textbook loaning: loaned teaching materials are distributed at school; if a borrowed book is not returned or is unfit for further lending the responsible pupil/guardian must pay to replace the item. Billing for such replacements follows the school's lending regulations.
Boarding / internat fees
- Gjøvik videregående skole does not operate a school boarding/internat facility. The school provides information and local support for pupils who must live away from home (hybel) and information about available support measures and county supplements for borteboere; any housing costs are private and not billed by the school. County extra‑support for eligible borteboere is administered separately.
Other costs and one‑off charges
- Replacement school travel card: NOK 150.
- Repair/temporary replacement own contribution for elev‑PC per incident: NOK 500.
- Textbook replacement: cost equals the price of a new copy; charged if a loaned book is not returned or is unusable.
- Private exam (privatist) per‑exam fees: NOK 1,403 (not passed) / NOK 2,808 (improving passed grade), per exam; fees are set annually by the budget process.
Refunds and chargeback rules
- Elev‑PC: if a pupil ends training before the three annual payments are completed, the pupil has the right to overtake the PC by paying the remaining agreed own contributions; if the pupil does not want to overtake, the PC must be returned. If the pupil leaves after 1 October, payment for the started school year is due as stated in the PC agreement.
- Privatisteksamen: paid exam fees are non‑refundable if the candidate withdraws or postpones after registration/payment.
- Utstyrsstipend: stipend is normally not repaid, but any overpayment (e.g., if a pupil receives more stipend than entitled because schooling is ended mid‑year) may be reclaimed.
- Travel refunds and reimbursements: refunds or reimbursements for travel are governed by Innlandet fylke's procedures and specific handbooks; pupils/guardians should follow the county's claim/refund procedures where applicable. Replacement card fees are charged as noted above.
Accepted payment methods and practical payment notes
- School canteen purchases: card, Vipps and cash.
- Privatist exam fees: paid by Visa or Mastercard at registration in the private‑exam portal.
- Elev‑PC: billed by invoice to the person who signed the PC agreement; the invoice is sent in the autumn. The agreement signer stands as the invoice recipient. Specific payment channels for those invoices follow the county's invoicing practice.
- Other school‑issued invoices (replacements, damage, unreturned material): billed to the responsible person/guardian according to the school's lending and billing procedures.
