About international schools in Skopje, North Macedonia
Skopje’s international schools are a small but varied sector where English-medium IB schools sit alongside an American curriculum school, a French-language school and smaller bilingual or multilingual providers. Many schools teach in English while also offering Macedonian, Albanian or other mother-tongue and world-language lessons, and several run formal EAL/Intensive English and mother-tongue programmes. Annual tuition varies widely by school, grade and citizenship status - published 2026 rates in the city run from roughly €3,500 a year at some smaller international schools up to about €15,600 a year for international-student places at an established all-through IB school, while a French curriculum option publishes fees around €6,000 - €7,700. Families should budget separately for enrolment deposits, transport, meals, uniforms and extracurriculars, expect most schools to prefer a September start but to accept applications year-round where places permit, and be prepared for interviews and entry assessments as part of the admissions process.
