Application / Registration fee
- A one-time registration (application) fee of NZD 500 is payable at enrolment.
Tuition fees (structured by enrolment duration)
- Tuition for international students is published by enrolment duration rather than by New Zealand school year (Year 9–13). The published tuition amounts are:
- 1 year (4 terms): NZD 20,000 (2026) / NZD 23,000 (2027).
- 3 terms: NZD 16,000 (2026) / NZD 17,000 (2027).
- 2 terms: NZD 12,000 (2026) / NZD 13,000 (2027).
- 1 term: NZD 7,000 (2026) / NZD 7,500 (2027).
- Per-term tuition (simple division of the annual tuition by the number of terms) is therefore:
- 2026: 1-year tuition NZD 20,000 → NZD 5,000 per term; 3-term enrolment NZD 16,000 → NZD ~5,333 per term; 2-term NZD 12,000 → NZD 6,000 per term; 1-term NZD 7,000 → NZD 7,000.
- 2027: 1-year tuition NZD 23,000 → NZD 5,750 per term; 3-term NZD 17,000 → NZD ~5,667 per term; 2-term NZD 13,000 → NZD 6,500 per term; 1-term NZD 7,500 → NZD 7,500.
Homestay / accommodation (not on-campus boarding)
- Homestay is used for international students; no on-campus boarding is listed. Homestay rates published are:
- 2026 homestay: NZD 370 per week.
- 2027 homestay: NZD 410–450 per week in published 2027 materials (2027 fees list NZD 450 per week as an example for homestay).
- Special-diet homestay rate example: NZD 420 per week (2026 guidance) and higher rates noted for 2027 materials. Homestay administration/placement fees are also published (e.g., homestay administration NZD 500 in 2027).
Other compulsory or regular fees (examples and typical amounts in NZD)
- Administration fee: NZD 700 (listed as part of the international fee schedule 2026).
- Contingency / Expenses (covers compulsory uniform items except shoes, subject consumables, etc.): NZD 2,000 (2026 full-year example); 2027 shows similar contingency amounts. Any unused portion is returned at the end of enrolment.
- Sports levy (annual): NZD 40.
- Outdoor education: NZD 200 per term (NZD 800 per full year).
- NCEA / NZQA exam fees: approximately NZD 400.
- Cambridge fees (Year 11 English & Maths example): NZD 440 for both subjects (NZD 220 each).
- Uniform (approximate purchase cost): ~NZD 500; uniform hire (one term) about NZD 100 (subject to availability).
- Homestay relocation / homestay change fee: NZD 400 per change.
- Insurance (medical/travel): approx. NZD 600 per year (school can assist with Uni-Care arrangements). Visa renewal fee and other government/processing fees are listed (examples: NZD 750 visa renewal; NZD 200 processing).
Billing schedule and payment terms
- The school issues an invoice and a Conditional Offer of Place once an application is accepted. Payment of the invoiced amount is required to receive a Confirmed Offer of Place and a receipt; the Confirmed Offer of Place is required for Immigration New Zealand visa applications.
- Homestay is invoiced for the period starting 5 days prior to the student's arrival until 5 days after enrolment ends, unless otherwise agreed. Multiple homestay changes can incur a placement/change fee.
- All published international fee schedules are labelled provisional and subject to change. Registration is payable once and covers application processing and contract documentation.
Refund information and conditions
- Refunds are considered under specified conditions. Examples from the published fee protection and refund policy:
- If an application for withdrawal is made before the course start date, fees will be refunded in full less the Deposit/Registration fee of NZD 500.
- If withdrawal occurs after the course start date, a minimum of 28 days' notice is generally required; refunds after the start are calculated pro rata for weeks remaining in the contracted tuition period and deductions may include the registration fee, costs already incurred, committed components for the duration of the course, and government levies or agents' fees. After the second half of the course there is generally no refund except in exceptional compassionate circumstances.
- If the school ceases to provide the agreed programme or ceases to be a signatory to the Code of Practice, unused fees will be refunded or transferred as required by the Code. Refunds are normally paid to the parent unless otherwise instructed.
Fee payment options (what is published)
- Tuition and homestay are invoiced by the International Office; payment is required to confirm enrolment and trigger issuance of the Confirmed Offer of Place. Specific tuition payment methods are handled through the school's international enrolment process and payment portal when invoiced.
- Uniform purchases are processed through the school uniform shop which accepts credit card payments via Stripe and bank transfer to the school's bank account; the uniform shop publishes both credit-card and bank-transfer options for payment.
Boarding status
- Tauranga Boys' College does not list on-campus boarding; accommodation for international students is provided via approved homestay arrangements with the published homestay weekly rates and associated homestay administration fees.
Note on year-by-year tuition detail
- The published international fee schedule lists tuition by enrolment duration (1 year, 3 terms, 2 terms, 1 term) and does not publish separate tuition rates specifically by NZ Year level (Year 9–13). Therefore no distinct Year 9 / Year 10 / Year 11 / Year 12 / Year 13 tuition figures are published in the school's international fee schedule.
