History
|
History iDSP traces its origins to 1958, when the Association of the German-language School in Paris was formed with support from the German Foreign Office, the German Embassy in Paris, and other partners. The first class began on November 3, 1958, in three rooms at the YMCA near the Trocadéro, with seven students; by year's end there were 28. The school moved to Neuilly in 1959; the primary opened in 1960-61 and a kindergarten was added in 1962, while a nine-class secondary was completed in 1965-66. From 1968-1970 the school relocated during expansion, and by 1970 it accommodated around 600 students; in 1975-1981 the parents founded the Amis de l'école and class councils formed, with enrollment reaching 941 in 1977-78. The main mission remains to provide German-speaking children with instruction in German up to the Abitur, and since the 1990s facilities have been modernized and a bilingual curriculum introduced in 1994, with the EMFA German-French music school opening in 1998-99. | History — |

German language skills are required from Grade 2. 4) Language level requirements by grade: Grade 4 requires German level A1; Grade 7 requires B1; Grade 8 requires B1; Grade 9 requires B2; Grade 10 and above require native-level German (at least C1). 5) Textbooks: There is no provision of free textbooks at iDSP. Parents must purchase the textbooks on the first day of school. A list of the textbooks to be purchased can be found under Practical – Textbooks. | Admissions 1. Initial Application: To begin the process, parents must complete a pre-registration form online through the school's Eduka platform. This step creates a family account where you can track the status of your application. Applications are reviewed in the order they are submitted. 2. Document Submission and Application Fee: Once the Eduka account is active, parents must upload all necessary supporting documents, which centrally include the student's previous academic reports. A non-refundable application fee of €300 is required at this stage to process the file. If any documentation is missing, the admissions team will request it before moving forward. 3. Academic Review and Assessment: The school evaluates the student's academic history to ensure they can access the curriculum. Depending on the student's profile and whether they are applying for the French or International Baccalaureate track, the school may request additional testing or language assessments. This ensures the student's level aligns with the school's standard requirements. 4. Family Interview: If the application is strong and there are potential vacancies, the school will invite the family for a meeting. This allows the school to assess the student's maturity, conduct, and suitability for the program. It also provides an opportunity for parents to ask questions and familiarize themselves with the campus. 5. Offer and Registration: When a place is offered, parents must formally accept it by returning the required enrolment forms. To secure the spot, families must pay a registration fee of between €900 and €1,000, along with an advance deposit toward the first term's tuition. Once these payments are received, the student is officially placed on the class roster. |
