Application fees
- For students who meet DoDEA eligibility as dependents of U.S. military or other qualifying sponsors at Kleine Brogel Elementary School (K-5), there is no application or enrollment fee; DoDEA provides tuition-free enrollment for space-required eligible dependents.
- Non‑eligible or non‑federally connected children admitted on a space‑available, tuition‑paying basis follow DoDEA's tuition‑paying enrollment procedures; any required administrative or sponsor billing arrangements are handled through DoDEA's enrollment and billing processes rather than a standard family application charge.
Tuition fees (by year group and per term)
- Kindergarten through Grade 5 (K-5), eligible DoD‑connected dependents: USD 0 per term and USD 0 per school year (no tuition charged). This applies to space‑required, eligible military and other qualifying sponsors' dependents enrolled at Kleine Brogel Elementary School.
- Tuition‑paying students (admitted on a space‑available basis): tuition amounts are not a uniform posted per‑grade public schedule at the school level; DoDEA issues tuition invoices for tuition‑paying enrollments under its tuition program and billing rules. Amounts and billing responsibility depend on the student's eligibility category, sponsor/agency arrangement, and DoDEA invoicing for the specific overseas location. Families or sponsoring agencies who are required to pay tuition receive DoDEA invoices that state the exact amounts due.
Billing schedule and payment terms
- DoDEA overseas tuition invoices follow DoDEA billing procedures; tuition invoices for tuition‑paying students are typically issued in DoDEA billing packages covering the school year and are governed by DoDEA invoicing timelines. Payment is normally expected within 30 days of the invoice date; unpaid tuition invoices are treated as a debt to the U.S. Government and can affect enrollment status until resolved.
Boarding fees (if applicable)
- Kleine Brogel Elementary School is a DoDEA elementary day school and does not operate boarding or dormitory facilities; therefore there are no boarding fees for KBES.
Other costs or fees (examples and what families should expect)
- School meals: school meal prices for DoDEA overseas schools were adjusted for the 2026–2027 school year; the elementary lunch price is USD 3.75 for the 2026–2027 school year (school breakfast and secondary meal prices are subject to the same DoD/contractor pricing updates). Meal charges are separate from tuition and are posted on the school's cafeteria or meal program communications and invoiced/collected through the designated food service program.
- Optional program and activity charges: optional extracurricular activities, certain field trips, competitive‑athletics travel, instrument rental or private music lessons, and some after‑school programs or extended‑day care (if offered) commonly require separate payments or contributions from families. These are program‑specific and billed or collected at the time the activity is offered.
- School supplies and personal items: routine school supplies, replacement of lost or damaged school property, PE clothing, and any optional spirit wear or school‑branded items are typically family‑purchased and are not covered by tuition. DoDEA elementary schools generally do not require a formal uniform; any school spirit wear is optional and family‑paid.
Refund information
- For eligible, tuition‑free students there is no tuition payment to refund. For tuition‑paying enrollments, refunds or proration of tuition (if applicable) follow DoDEA billing and withdrawal procedures as stated on the DoDEA invoice or billing guidance received at enrollment; unpaid balances are managed under DoDEA financial policies. Families billed for tuition should follow the invoice terms for withdrawal and refund provisions shown on the DoDEA billing documents.
Fee payment options and how payments are processed
- Tuition for tuition‑paying students is invoiced by DoDEA and is normally managed through DoDEA finance channels and sponsor/agency payment arrangements; DoDEA's administrative and billing processes determine the precise payment routing for each tuition invoice. In some regions and cases, payment arrangements are handled between DoDEA and the sponsor's employing agency rather than by direct family payment. DoDEA Americas schools are not authorized to accept tuition payments from individuals in certain contexts; payment acceptance and methods vary by region and by whether the invoice is to an agency or to a family.
- Meal program and activity payments are processed through the school's meal service or activity coordinators using the designated collection method for that program (meal account, point‑of‑sale, local collection, or other DoD‑designated method); exact payment channels are communicated locally by the school or food service operator.
