Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Wellbeing and PSHE programs promote social‑emotional learning. A positive education approach teaches students' social‑emotional skills, including relationships, strengths, and resilience. The Wellbeing policy commits to promoting mental health and wellbeing as central to learning. The Wellbeing Team and School Counsellor provide mental health support and counselling for students. The school strengthens student voice through elected student council representatives, a student wellbeing leadership team, and a Student Mentorship Program, with ongoing parent engagement through meetings and surveys. PSHE lessons also cover how to stay safe, healthy relationships, and emotional regulation.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

School of Knowledge is Inclusive and welcomes Students of Determination. Admission follows Sharjah SPEA Directives for Inclusive Education, with reasonable adjustments and support for students with learning needs or disabilities. The school maintains a Learning Support Department and uses an entry assessment to identify needs and plan provision. It uses Waves of Provision (Wave 1 classroom strategies, Wave 2 targeted support, Wave 3 specialist provision) and develops Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or BMPs for students requiring it, with input from parents and, when needed, external specialists. The school coordinates with parents and external agencies (e.g., Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Educational Psychologist) and keeps SEND records. SEND categories include Behavior, Social and Emotional needs, Speech and Language Disorders, and General Learning Difficulties.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

iPrimary is an E‑Learning Programme in English, Mathematics and Science based on the British National Curriculum. English is the language of instruction for iPrimary, with the curriculum designed to help students communicate effectively in written and spoken English and access the wider curriculum. The programme uses internal progress tests and external benchmark tests to measure learning progress.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental health and wellbeing are defined using the World Health Organization's definition of mental health and wellbeing. The Wellbeing policy emphasizes that wellbeing is central to learning and is a shared responsibility of the whole school community, including students, staff, parents, and carers. The school aims to create a wellbeing‑focused environment, support mental health through universal approaches, and provide access to appropriate support via the wellbeing team and school counsellors. The policy notes that students should develop self‑esteem, emotional regulation, resilience, and empathy, and it supports student voice through leadership roles and counseling services to address mental health needs. School initiatives include student council, wellbeing leadership, counselling services, and parent engagement through meetings and communications.

Safeguarding

The school has a Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy with a designated Child Protection Officer and clear procedures for identifying, reporting, and responding to safeguarding concerns. Staff and governors receive training, and there are formal reporting channels and confidentiality protocols. The policy outlines roles and responsibilities (including the Designated Person), steps for disclosures, and collaboration with parents and external agencies; it also notes helpline numbers for the Children‑Social Service Department of Sharjah (800700/116111) and requires safe recruitment practices.
