Deutsche Schule Izmir is a German international day school in Izmir, founded in 2008 as a branch of Privatschule der Deutschen Botschaft Ankara. It is an Exzellente Deutsche Auslandsschule, linked to ZfA and funded by the German government under the deutsch-türkischen Kulturabkommen. The Grundschule (grades 1–4) runs small classes up to 16 pupils with German as the language of instruction; Turkish and English are taught from grade 1. The curriculum covers German, Mathematics and Sachunterricht, with Musik, Kunst and Sport, plus Lernatelier. A mandatory Ganztag runs Monday–Thursday 09:00–16:15 and Friday 09:00–14:30. Sekundarstufe I (grades 5–10) leads to the German MSA and the Studienstufe with the GIB Diploma; since 2024/25 there is an orientation stage for grades 5–6. The IB Diploma is offered. Facilities include a GS-Bib library, Mensa and Lernatelier spaces; rooms F5/F6 from 2025/26. Extracurriculars include World Schools Debating Club, Theater, Schulband, Lego-RobotX and Naturcamp; exchanges with Deutsche Schule Nairobi.
