Nordic International School Kalmar is a school serving Grades 4–9 in Kalmar, located at Nygatan 18B. The school follows the Swedish curriculum (Lgr22) while using English as a working language in parts of the teaching, and most instruction is in Swedish. Extra time is devoted to English. Founded in 2020, the school has 200+ students and is led by Principal Ms. Jenny Hultsberg. The model emphasizes world-class teaching, discipline, and the Nordic Spirit, with a focus on preparing students for a global future. Classrooms are simple and focused, with carpeted floors; social areas encourage reading and collaboration; up to 50 percent of lessons may be conducted in English. A house system supports leadership and social development, and a school uniform reinforces community. The school offers language instruction in French, German, Spanish, and English, alongside Swedish as a second language, and includes a Music program as part of its arts education.
