Madrid Montessori was founded in 2006 to offer a respectful and stimulating learning environment for children. It began as a single-classroom school in Chamberí, Madrid, with twelve families sharing a holistic view of childhood. In 2009 the school moved to Calle Henares in El Viso, with spaces for ages 3 to 6, and in September 2016 opened the Genil 11 campus, consolidating all programs in one building. Education is a lifelong process in which classrooms are prepared to meet developmental needs and adults and spaces serve the children, helping them develop abilities, solve problems, and strengthen their sense of self. Children eat in their classrooms and help prepare and serve meals; families are invited to join once a year. The school teaches children to care for the garden and participate in composting and waste sorting, with seasonal planting tasks to connect meals with their origins. There is an Extended Day program with nap options for some children (1:00–3:00 PM on select days, and Fridays 1:00 PM pickup), plus outdoor time in the ‘Secret Garden' and other garden spaces. Additionally, weekly Physical Education occurs at the municipal sports center, and children sometimes spend afternoons at nearby Berlin Park for organized outdoor activities.”

Admissions
1. attend an open house. If you are considering Madrid Montessori please contact us to reserve a place in our next Open Houses. There are a limited number of places each year.

2. submit your application. If you feel that our school matches what you are looking to offer your child, download the application form and send it to the address indicated on the form, together with a non-refundable administrative fee of 150€ to our Ibercaja account: ES102085928419033030338; BIC CAZRES2Z; Item: Application_"name of child". Submitting the application form does not guarantee your child a place in the following school year.

3. follow up appointment. After we receive your application, we will contact you to schedule a follow-up appointment and classroom observation as well as an interview with the Head of School.

4. notification. If we have a place to offer your child, you will be notified after March 15th. Once the formal admission offer is made, you will receive a deadline in order to reserve a place.

5. waitlist. Some parents enquire about admission criteria. We keep a waiting list to draw from when these places become available. Applications can be submitted throughout the year, but only those received by the end of February are guaranteed full consideration.

6. re-application for following year. Families on the waiting list who have not been given a place for that school year and would like to re-apply for the following school year should contact the school to re-apply.
