Herschel Girls School is an independent Anglican school for girls on a historic campus in Claremont, Cape Town, offering education from Grade 000 to Grade 12. The senior school follows the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) programme and Years 8–9 follow the transformed General Education and Training Curriculum (GETC); in Grades 10–12 pupils choose seven subjects including compulsory English Home Language, a First Additional Language (Afrikaans or IsiXhosa), Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation, alongside electives such as Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Information Technology, Visual Arts, Drama, Music and French. Instruction is in English with additional language offerings as noted. The school publishes substantial cultural and performance facilities — including a 500‑seat theatre, two drama studios, art and design studios, music practice and technology rooms and the Inkwenkwezi Music Centre — and a broad sports programme (hockey, netball, water polo, swimming, tennis etc.). Distinctive elements include digital‑literacy and research modules in middle school and “Single Focus Days” for enriched subject study, together with Anglican services and chorale participation.
