The Deutsche Internationale Schule Johannesburg (DSJ) is a German international encounter school located in Parktown, Johannesburg, serving children from early childhood through Grade 12 (ages 1–18). The school follows a German-based curriculum (Baden-Württemberg as the didactic basis) while offering dual exit pathways: the German International Abitur and the South African National Senior Certificate (written through the IEB) with opportunities to obtain the German Language Diplomas (DSD I and II). German is the school's core instructional language and all pupils receive English at an educational-language level; the DSJ also provides structured integration and accelerated German support for learners from non‑German homes. The school describes itself as an open, all‑day institution with free homework supervision, a broad programme of afternoon activities and mentoring/learning‑support measures, an active student‑exchange programme with partner schools in Germany, and a diverse pupil body of around 1,000 students speaking many languages.
