Constantia Waldorf School is a co-educational Waldorf school on a seven-hectare campus in Constantia, Cape Town, offering the Waldorf curriculum from early childhood through to Matric for ages 3 to 18. Teaching follows the Waldorf approach with Main Lesson blocks, an emphasis on arts and handwork, continuity of the primary class teacher, and weekly eurythmy; the school prepares students for the South African National Senior Certificate (Matric). The medium of instruction is English, and learners receive weekly additional language tuition including Afrikaans and isiXhosa. The campus includes purpose-built specialist facilities for Art, Chemistry, Handwork, Woodwork, Pottery and Jewellery Design, a Sports Gym, Library, craft shop and halls, and an Outdoor Classroom and environmental programme where many lessons and practical activities (gardening, building, animal care) take place. The school also follows the Waldorf rhythm of seasonal festivals and places notable emphasis on practical, artistic and outdoor learning within its programme.
