Arts & Creative

Within the DrugaDruga program, students participate in literary and art workshops, a photography club, theatre groups in Slovenian, English, and French, a youth choir, a student orchestra, the Borec newspaper, and a film school. These activities are part of Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), fostering creativity, performance, teamwork, and community involvement. IB Diploma Programme students also create videos, such as humorous videos produced during English B classes. The DrugaDruga program provides a broad platform for arts and cultural engagement beyond the core curriculum.

Cultural & Language

Language A: Literature is taught in Slovene, Serbian, and Macedonian, with selected world literature; Slovene is compulsory at higher level for Slovene students. For foreign-language literature, II. gimnazija Maribor offers literature courses in Macedonian, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. Community & Service

Volunteer work is performed as part of CAS at school, in other elementary schools, kindergartens, homes for the elderly, animal shelters, and youth centres. CAS coordinators and mentors supervise the activities, and students write reflection journals. At the end of the second school year, students give a public presentation that includes self-evaluation and reflection on the activities performed. Participation in community service is integral to IB, supporting holistic development and social responsibility.

Leadership & Professional

CAS develops leadership, teamwork, planning and time-management skills through real-world activities and reflection. The DrugaDruga program provides leadership opportunities through clubs such as the Borec newspaper, youth theatre groups and the film school, as well as the student orchestra and choir.
