Food Options

Malica is provided by Marvin, d.o.o. The price per meal is 4 € for a hot or cold meal. Subsidies for meals are granted based on the net income per family, and the school automatically obtains subsidy data, so families do not need to apply. Meal orders are made through the eAsistent system; meals are collected in the school atrium with a student ID; cancellations must be made by the stated deadlines to avoid charges.

Governance and Ownership

The school is a public institution founded by the Republic of Slovenia. It is led by the Principal as the educational head, and governed by the School Council, which includes representatives of the founder/municipality, staff, and the Parents' Council; the School Council performs legally mandated duties. The Student Community is organized in the Gimnazija Novo mesto Student Organization (DOG), which has its own parliament.
Fees

Annual tuition at Gimnazija Novo Mesto ranges from EUR 2,886 for 2026/27.

Application fees

- There is no routine application fee for admission to the school's regular programmes (general gimnazija, classical gimnazija, sports classes, or the IB Diploma Programme). Admissions information and application deadlines are handled by the school's enrolment procedures.

Tuition fees (by programme / year group)

- Regular day-school programmes (general gimnazija, classical gimnazija, sports classes) — EUR 0 per year: these programmes are provided by the publicly founded grammar school and the school does not charge tuition for regular enrolment.

- International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma Programme) taught at the school — no separate school tuition is charged for students enrolled in the IB DP as part of the school's programme. (IB programme details and programme delivery are provided by the school; IB examinations/registration involve the IB organization's own fees where applicable.)

- Maturitetni tečaj (matriculation course) — for foreign students arriving from non-EU countries (where neither the student nor their parents are Slovenian tax residents) a school tuition for enrolment in the maturitetni tečaj is charged. For the 2025/26 academic year that tuition amount is EUR 2,886.11 (amount adopted by the school council). This is a per‑school‑year charge for the maturitetni tečaj.

Examination and exam-related fees (per exam / per candidate)

- Individual school exam (general school / other non‑matura exams): written only EUR 40.00; oral only EUR 20.00; written + oral together EUR 60.00. These itemised charges apply to the school's administered exams as listed in the school price list for exams.

- Maturitetni izpit (single maturita/subject as charged by the school) — EUR 34.00 per subject (school's portion).

- Celotna splošna matura (all five maturita subjects, school's portion) — EUR 140.00 per candidate. Note that candidates who are not enrolled as regular students must also pay the State Exam Centre (RIC) component according to the Centre's tariff; both proofs of payment (RIC and school) are required with the candidate's application. Candidates entitled to social assistance may be exempt from payment on presentation of the appropriate decision.

Other routine school fees and charges (items parents commonly pay)

- School meal (daily student malica): price is set in accordance with national rules and the ministry's determinations; parents/students pay a contribution for the school meal. Registration and de‑registration use the school eAsistent system; individual missed or cancelled meals are invoiced/adjusted according to the school meal rules (odjave at least one working day ahead; monthly billing adjustments). Parents receive billing and must pay the meal contribution according to the school's payment schedule.

- Textbooks and learning materials: the school operates a textbook fund (učbeniški sklad). Students may borrow textbooks from the fund for the school year and pay a rental (izposojevalnina) for each borrowed textbook; national rules cap the rental at no more than one‑third of the textbook's purchase price and allow discounts or exemptions for students in financial need. Parents may also incur costs for workbooks or subject‑specific materials where required.

- Student ID card: EUR 9.43 (replacement/initial charge as listed).

- Lost locker key: EUR 10.00 (replacement).

- Inter‑library loan: EUR 5.00.

- School pullover (school branded jumper) — listed item: EUR 17.00 (270‑year edition) or EUR 18.00 (2022 edition) where available for purchase.

- Administrative reminder fee (opomin): EUR 2.00; repair or damage costs charged at actual cost.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- Exam registration: for candidates who are not regular enrolled students the school requires proof of payment of both the State Exam Centre (RIC) portion and the school's exam fees at the time of application; those payment proofs must be attached to the exam application. The school's exam price list defines the school portion per exam.

- School meals: invoicing and settlement are handled on a monthly basis; cancelled meals are reflected in the following month's billing. Timely de‑registration of a single meal must be made at least one working day before the meal (by 11:00) to avoid the full meal charge. Registration and cancellations are processed primarily through the eAsistent system.

- Maturitetni tečaj tuition (foreign students): the school council approved the tuition amount for the 2025/26 school year; enrolment billing will follow the school's enrolment and accounting procedures for the maturitetni tečaj (the published tuition amount is a per‑school‑year fee). Parents/candidates are expected to settle the tuition per the school's billing instructions at enrolment.

- School services and small fees (card issuance, pullover purchase, lost key, library fees): charged at the time of the service or when the item is issued; the school's price list for systemic services lists the standard amounts.

Boarding / accommodation fees

- Boarding: not applicable. Gimnazija Novo mesto is a day grammar school and does not operate on‑site boarding facilities; students requiring residential accommodation use local student dormitories or private accommodation arrangements.

Refund and cancellation information

- Exam fee exemption: candidates who demonstrate eligibility for social assistance (decision from the competent Center for Social Work) are exempt from payment for the school's exam fees.

- Exam de‑registration / cancellation: the school publishes an official deregistration form for withdrawal from the splošna matura (general maturity) and accepts official de‑registration; candidates should follow the published de‑registration procedure. In general practice for maturities, timely de‑registration (per the official rules and the State Exam Centre calendar) is the basis for any refund or non‑charging of fees; the school requires the appropriate cancellation paperwork.

- Other refunds (school meals, purchased items, course tuition) follow the school's internal rules and the specific price list or policy that governs that item (for example, meal cancellations and monthly billing adjustments are set out in the school meal rules). For social‑assistance‑based exemptions or other relief, parents should follow the school's published application procedures.

Fee payment options

- Bank transfer to the school's TRR is provided and commonly used for school payments; the school's official account (TRR) is published in the school's organisation/vizitka information. The school's secretariat and accounting contacts are available for arranging payments and for issuing invoices.

- School meal payments and registration use the eAsistent electronic system (electronic registration and cancellation are supported; written forms are accepted as exceptions).

- Payments due to the State Exam Centre (RIC) are handled according to the RIC's payment rules and tariff for maturities; candidates who are not regular students must also settle the RIC component as part of their exam application.

- For small item purchases (school pullover, card issuance) the school issues the relevant charge at time of issue; standard practice is payment at issuance or by school invoice to be paid via bank transfer or according to instructions from the school's accounting office. The school's accounting and secretariat contact details are published for payment enquiries.

If you need these fee lines entered into an external database, use the amounts and line items above exactly as stated (amounts are in EUR).
