Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

Montessori education addresses social and emotional areas as well as academics. It is a holistic education supporting the growth of the child at every stage of development. Multi-age classrooms foster leadership and peer learning, helping children support one another. Play is valued for social interaction and the development of fine and gross motor skills. Outdoor garden time supports emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. Guides meet parents twice a year during Parent-Guide Conferences to discuss progress across areas of development.

Mental Wellbeing

Mental wellbeing is supported through the Montessori approach, which treats social and emotional development as core to learning. The multi-age environment fosters social skills, leadership and peer support that bolster wellbeing. Play supports social interaction and emotional regulation through movement and collaboration. Outdoor time provides opportunities for emotional growth, reflection and connection with nature, which underpins wellbeing. Guides monitor development and provide parents with progress updates at Parent-Guide Conferences focused on overall wellbeing.

Safeguarding

The Preschool is licensed by ECDA. The Elementary and Erdkinder are registered with SWDA. Lodestar tries to hire AMI teachers as Lead Guides to ensure the quality of Montessori education. AMI offers teacher training and conferences and approves the production of Montessori materials and books. This licensing and AMI framework supports safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
Parent Experience

History

Lodestar Montessori was conceived when Anjum and Sheila, two founders, connected over a cup of coffee to pursue Maria Montessori's philosophy. They shared a commitment to offering Montessori education faithful to AMI teachings, built on their training in the AMI method. The founders are described as the two individuals who founded Lodestar Montessori Preschool through their shared vision. Lodestar Montessori Preschool is part of Lodestar Montessori Schools.

Community

Field Trips occur four times per annum, with outdoor excursions each term to places of interest where children experience learning with peers. Guides meet with parents twice a year during Parent-Guide Conferences (PGCs) to discuss their child's progress in development. What our parents say is captured in testimonials from families reflecting their experiences at Lodestar Montessori Preschool.
