Hinkson Christian Academy began in fall 1991 as New Life Christian School in Moscow to meet the educational needs of local Christian expat families, starting with nineteen children and three teachers in a classroom rented from a Russian school. In fall 1992 enrollment grew to 32 students and the school relocated to three classrooms at Russian School #1106. During 1993-1994 enrollment reached 96–100 students in grades K–11, with six full-time teachers and a library at School #1106. It began the process of becoming an inter-organizational ministry and was renamed Hinkson Christian Academy in honor of Bud Hinkson. The 1994-1995 year saw the first graduating class, and the school later moved to a new site in 1996-1997; the 2000 move enabled ESL, a Resource Education program, and a broader student body, and in 2007 HCA was accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International.
