Fees
Application fees

- There is no application fee for admission to St. Olav videregående skole through the normal public admissions routes (Vigo) for applicants to the county-run upper secondary programmes.

Tuition fees (by year group and term)

- VG1 (first year): Tuition fee per term: NOK 0. Tuition fee per school year: NOK 0.
- VG2 (second year): Tuition fee per term: NOK 0. Tuition fee per school year: NOK 0.
- VG3 (third year / final year): Tuition fee per term: NOK 0. Tuition fee per school year: NOK 0.

Notes on core educational materials and school-provided items

- The school/fylkeskommune provides access to required curriculum textbooks and loaned learning materials; families are responsible for replacing books or materials that are lost or damaged.
- St. Olav requires each pupil to have their own portable laptop; this device is purchased and owned by the family. Financial support for school supplies (stipends) is available through the national student support system (Lånekassen) for eligible students. Specific model choices and purchase responsibility rest with the family.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- There are no scheduled term-by-term tuition invoices for VG1–VG3 because tuition is not charged. Any invoices that a family does receive will relate to optional or extra services (for example: optional study trips, certain extracurricular activities, external examination fees, replacement items, or other voluntary contributions).
- When charges are applied, invoices or payment requests are issued as required for the specific activity or service; payment deadlines and any instalment instructions are stated on each invoice. Formal supplier invoices to the school or county are required in the electronic EHF format and must include the required invoice references.

Boarding / accommodation (internat)

- St. Olav videregående skole does not operate a boarding (internat) facility as part of its Stavanger campus; the school is organised as a day school and lists campus addresses and administrative contact details for day-school operation. There are therefore no routine boarding fees.

Other costs and typical extra fees

- Personal device: purchase of a personal laptop is required; the family pays for this device.
- Travel / local transport: families are responsible for their child's travel costs to and from school (youth travel cards are recommended where appropriate).
- Optional study trips and extracurricular activities: participation in many optional trips or external activities may require payment; these charges are activity-specific and invoiced when the trip or service is organised. Rogaland county guidance limits how mandatory these charges may be and recommends voluntary formulations for parent contributions where the free-principle applies.
- Examination / IB-related external fees: students registered for externally assessed IB services (including retake or late registration) are responsible for the applicable IB examination or retake fees when these apply; the IB and the school have specific deadlines and fee lines for such registrations. The school's IB administration provides details and invoices for IB assessment-related charges where relevant. Replacement diplomas, retake registration and other IB services may carry additional fees.
- Printing / photocopying: students are allocated a printing credit for routine school printing; the school's published practice is an initial print credit with local arrangements for refill or top-up managed by the school's IT staff.
- Replacement or damage costs: families may be charged for replacement of lost or damaged loaned books or school property according to the school's lending regulations.
- Uniform: there is no school uniform requirement listed for St. Olav; no uniform fees apply as a routine cost.

Refund information

- IB assessment fees and retake fees: refunds or partial refunds of IB fees are handled under the International Baccalaureate's established rules and deadlines; in some cases a refund is available if withdrawal occurs before IB-specified deadlines. The school follows IB procedures for registration, withdrawal and any eligible refunds.
- School-organised paid activities: refunds for paid trips or other activity charges depend on the timing, contractual arrangements with third-party providers and Rogaland county rules; the county's oversight documents make clear that schools must take the free-principle into account and that refunds or school coverage of costs may apply in specific situations (for example where a pupil is prevented from attending for reasons covered by school policy). Exact refund terms are stated on the activity invitation or invoice for each event.

Fee payment options and invoicing

- Formal supplier invoicing to the school / county is handled electronically via the EHF invoicing standard; invoices must include the required references and be sent to the county/school as specified on official invoicing pages.
- Families who are billed for optional activities or IB assessment charges will receive payment instructions on the invoice (the invoice will specify the accepted payment method and the due date). Payment is completed according to the instructions on each invoice. For IB assessment fees, the school follows IB billing procedures and deadlines.

Summary (practical points for parents)

- Routine tuition: NOK 0 per term / NOK 0 per year for VG1–VG3 (no tuition charged).
- Expect to pay for: your child's personal laptop, daily travel to school, any voluntary or optional trips/activities you choose to join, replacement of lost/damaged loaned materials, and any IB external assessment or retake fees that apply to your child.
- Invoicing and payment instructions are provided on each activity- or assessment-specific invoice; formal supplier invoices to the school are processed through the EHF system.

Admissions

Admissions

1. Eligibility and programme fit. Admission is open to students of all nationalities who can successfully complete and benefit from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. The Diploma Programme is taught in English. The school assesses whether applicants can engage with the international curriculum and its requirements.

2. Application deadline and documents. An application must be received by March 1, with accompanying grade reports. A residency permit for Norway and an address in Rogaland County are required; those moving to Norway may receive a conditional offer. A satisfactory level of English is required to enable a student to follow the programme.

3. Qualifications accepted for admission. Qualifications accepted include first year vg1 of Norwegian Upper Secondary general studies, Music Dance and Drama or Sport or Art with general studies; or a successfully fulfilled IB Middle Years Programme up to MYP5; or IGCSE; or an equivalent qualification. In addition, a satisfactory level of Norwegian at CEFR level A2 is required to enable study in Norwegian B, unless the applicant uses School Supported Self-taught (SSST) language A instead of Norwegian, which exempts this condition. A satisfactory level of Mathematics appropriate for the IB Diploma Mathematics courses is also required.

4. Interviews and assessments. In the event of a shortage of places, the Admissions Committee will review applications in light of qualifications and availability. The school may require the applicant to attend a personal interview and/or undertake an entrance examination in Mathematics, English and/or Norwegian if there is doubt about the applicant's ability to access the Diploma Programme. Where relevant, written proof of Norwegian language competency may be required.

5. Final decision and approvals. The final decision on recommendations for admission rests with the IB DP Coordinator and the Head of School. Formal approval is then given by Rogaland Fylkeskommune. These steps ensure alignment with programme requirements and governance.

6. Application submission process and deadlines. All applications must be submitted through Vigo.no. In addition to the Vigo submission, an electronic or paper application should be sent by March 1 to Rogaland Fylkeskommune: Inntakskontoret, Postboks 767, 4004 Stavanger. A copy should also be sent to the IBDP Coordinator at St. Olav vgs.

7. Conditional offers and residency. Applicants in the process of moving may receive conditional offers while residency is finalized. Final acceptance depends on meeting all residency and language requirements and on the availability of places. The school and relevant authorities may adjust offers as conditions change.
