Higher Education Progression

Orientation and Vocational Guidance: The program supports secondary students in transitioning from Colegio Teresiano to university, guiding them through the process and preparing them for higher education.
Wellbeing

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The school describes students as knowing, accepting and valuing themselves, recognizing their strengths and growth areas, and understanding their thoughts, emotions, needs, interests and motivations, as well as their behavioral tendencies. They are autonomous and free, demonstrating independent judgment and self-regulation of their emotions and behavior with freedom and respect for themselves and others. They are respectful and empathetic, engaging in dialogue, showing active listening, and seeking to understand others' realities, perspectives and emotional states, validating their emotions without judgment. They are cooperative, working with others with effort and a positive attitude to face tasks and resolve situations. They are transcendent, ethical and democratic, endowing their lives with meaning and guiding their actions in light of dignity, truth, freedom, justice, peace and solidarity. They are sensitive and solidary, able to perceive injustice or adversity and act for the common good; they are caring and responsible toward the environment; they are communicative, creative and open to learning, and they appreciate culture and art.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)

English is taught as part of a bilingual education program. The school has historically offered bilingual education and, in its early history, the high school was recognized to confer diplomas in English by the Catholic University of Washington. Admissions materials also include English-language content as part of the curriculum.

Mental Wellbeing

An Orientation Team provides counselors for the development of learners' holistic processes across grade levels, with named counselors for Early Education, 1st–3rd, 4th–6th, 7th–9th, and 10th–11th grades and contact details. The Pastoral program strengthens Teresian identity and supports spiritual development, including opportunities for prayer, retreats, and formation activities. A daily 15-minute period of prayer (Cuarto de hora de oración) aims to foster interiority, self-esteem, and connection with God and others, complemented by ongoing spiritual and community activities to support wellbeing and belonging. There is also vocational guidance support within the orientation team.

Safeguarding

The campus includes a Medical Center that provides basic primary care to students and staff, with vaccination campaigns organized for the school community. A medical doctor leads the center, with on-site medications available and parental approval required for any medication administered to early education and elementary students. In emergencies, transport to hospital or home is arranged through institutional means with a family member or a staff member accompanying the student; parents or guardians authorize home transfers when ill.
Parent Experience

History

The school was founded on April 6, 1954 by a group of Sisters from the Congregation Santa Teresa de Jesús, offering Christian and bilingual education. On May 17, 1954, classes opened with 205 students and 11 sisters in the community. On February 14, 1959, the first graduation took place, and the High School was recognized by the Catholic University of Washington to issue diplomas in English. The facilities where the school is located were built in 1959. In 1963, the Spanish-language Bachillerato program was established.

Community

The Teresian schools are centers of pastoral care. From the mystique of the shared table, we accompany the processes of faith and life of the learning community, promote encounters with Jesus and Teresian spirituality, and unite the community as a Teresian family. The pastoral mission is to cultivate Christian values in education and to live everything with a pastoral sense. Pastoral activities include formation and celebrations of the Teresian charism, Teresian celebrations and San Enrique, a fifteen-minute daily prayer, and the Teresian Apostolic Movement (MTA) with monthly meetings, campaigns, and advisor training.
