Parent Experience

History
The origin of the construction of our Center in Tangier dates to the late 1920s. The schooling needs of the Spanish community in Tangier were so important that in 1928 the Consul suggested designating the Cervantes Theatre for school use. The project for a 'Spanish group school in Tangier' was commissioned by Royal Order No. 152 of June 22, 1929 and prepared by eminent architects Rafael Bergamín and Luis Blanco Soler. The project was delivered in January 1930, and its construction was tendered by Royal Order published in the Gaceta de Madrid No. 79 of March 20, 1931, with a contract budget of 642,599.14 pesetas. Construction faced delays due to foundation problems and the contractor's ruin; by the summer of 1936 the complex was completed as an H-shaped building with a central core and four wings.

Community
Carnaval is scheduled for March 26, 2026. The center also hosts events such as the 1st Ramón y Cajal Film Show on February 9, 2026, and Día de las Escritoras on October 13, 2025. The events calendar includes the 2025/26 school calendar and other activities communicated by the center.

Facilities Overview
The Center is located in the upper area of Tangier, between the General Consulate of Spain and the Spanish Institute Severo Ochoa. The total area is about 16,889 m2, of which 11,621 m2 are built and 5,268 m2 are landscaped. The Center comprises four buildings or modules that house classrooms for the different levels, teacher workrooms, and support spaces, as well as sports and recreational facilities, a garden, green spaces, and parking. It offers spaces to support teaching and student activities, including language, music, art, informatics, and other specialized areas.

Sports Facilities
The Center features a gym and three outdoor patios with sports installations. In the patios there are five basketball courts, two handball courts and one volleyball court for Physical Education activities. These spaces support a wide range of PE classes and school sports.

Academic Facilities
Academic facilities include 27 classrooms and 3 Flexible Grouping Rooms. There are 3 Primary Education Meeting Rooms and 1 Infant Education Meeting Room. After school, in collaboration with the AMPA, the Center offers a range of extracurricular activities from Monday to Friday. These include football (soccer), basketball, cinema, dance, workshops, and theatre.

Arts & Creative
During Abril Cultural 2025, two short films were produced with active student participation, with students serving as camera assistants, clapboard operators, and sound technicians, not only as actors. We organized the I Muestra de Cine to celebrate these activities with families. This work demonstrates student involvement in cinema and creative production.

Cultural & Language
Día de las Escritoras was celebrated by uniting established writers and student writers around the magic of books. A video features writers and female students sharing their favorite books, the reasons they write, and what reading means in their lives. Reading and writing are presented as paths to freedom. Gratitude is extended to those who made this activity possible.

Social & Hobbies
Convivencia y Solidario Tour organized by AMPA on Saturday 15 March for the entire school community. Carnaval 2025 was celebrated on February 19 with participation from the whole school community. The center hosts social and festive events that foster community.
