Diving Deeper

Boarding Arrangements

Boarding is central to student life at Epsom College Malaysia. Full Boarding is available for students from Year 7 to Year 13, with Year 5 and Year 6 considered in selected cases. Boarders live in age-appropriate Houses supported by Housemasters, Housemistresses, resident tutors, matrons or stewards, and pastoral staff. New boarders take part in an induction programme at the start of term to help them settle into routines, House life and the wider school community. Boarding helps students develop independence, confidence, responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.

Uniform Requirement

Students wear the College uniform during the school day and scheduled school activities. Sixth Form students follow a formal business dress code rather than the standard school uniform. Boarders should bring appropriate school shoes, trainers, sports kit, casual clothing and smarter attire for formal occasions or school events. Clothing and personal items should be clearly labelled. Laundry is managed through the House and external laundry provider, with optional dry-cleaning available at an additional cost.

Food Options

Boarding students receive breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks daily, while day students receive lunch and a snack. Meals include Asian, Western, vegetarian and noodle options, along with a salad bar, fresh fruit and desserts. Epsom’s dining provision is Halal, nut-free and MSG-free.

House System

All students at Epsom College Malaysia are members of a House, giving them a smaller, close-knit community within the wider College. The House system is central to student life, offering a sense of belonging, daily pastoral care, academic guidance and opportunities for leadership, responsibility and inter-house participation.

Epsom currently has nine Houses: Carr, Holman, Propert, Granville and Forest for boys, and Crawfurd, Rosebery, Wilson and Wells for girls. Each House is led by a Housemaster or Housemistress and supported by a dedicated team of staff, including resident tutors and pastoral staff, who help students settle, grow and feel supported throughout their time at school.

Prep School students are also connected to the House system from an early stage, allowing them to take part in House activities and build a sense of identity within the College community. For boarders, the House becomes a second home, with shared routines, evening and weekend life, and the support of staff who live on campus and contribute to Epsom’s warm, family-like environment.

Governance and Ownership

Epsom College Malaysia is governed by a Board of Governors, chaired by Tan Sri Dr Tony Fernandes, founder of AirAsia and an Old Epsomian. The Board includes leaders from education, business and industry, including Mr Mark Lascelles, Head of Epsom College UK, Mr Gareth Lim, CEO of Ormond Group, Mr Ashley Head, Mr Francis Minah and Datuk Kamarudin Bin Meranun. Students are encouraged to build confidence, resilience, empathy, responsibility and positive relationships within a supportive school community.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Epsom supports students with additional learning needs where these can be met within a mainstream school environment. Upon entry, students undergo baseline assessments to determine their English proficiency, guiding placement into appropriate pathways. These pathways range from intensive programmes with up to 15 English lessons per week to integrated support within mainstream classes.
