The school opened its doors on August 18, 2014 after a cooperative educational agreement with Cambridge International Examinations and Silk Road International School. ECIS regular membership has been held since April 2011. The school has more than 497 students from about 25 nationalities and employs highly qualified international teachers. It is a candidate school for the Diploma Programme and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.

Community

UWIS offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for its students through clubs. The activities include sports, performing arts, science, chess and board games, music, drama and reader's theatre. ECAs are conducted by teachers and external instructors, including wushu, robotics and electronics, with a full list published each term. Some ECAs have an additional charge and the registration process is explained to parents at the beginning of the academic year.

1. UWIS serves the international community in Kyrgyzstan as well as local students seeking an international education in English.
