Billing schedule and payment terms

- Standard tuition payment schedule: 1st installment (50%) due by 15 September; 2nd installment (40%) due by 15 January; 3rd installment (10%) due by 15 April. Enrollment is confirmed on payment of the non‑refundable registration fee. In accordance with Italian law, fines and interest may be applied to late payments.

Curriculum
IST is an IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). The school provides a continuum from Early Years to Grade 12 and is the oldest full continuum IB World School in Piedmont. The Italian Programme runs alongside the IB path, with Italian taught as part of the curriculum; many subjects (social studies, geography, mathematics, sciences, art, music, computers, ESL and physical education) are taught in English. The IB Primary Years Programme serves ages 3-11, followed by the Middle Years Programme (11-15) and the Diploma Programme (16-18). The Diploma Programme includes six subject groups plus core elements (Theory of Knowledge, CAS, Extended Essay) and offers around 20 in-person subjects with additional online courses via Pamoja; IST is accredited by NEASC and CIS.

In May 2025 the Diploma Programme at IST had a highest mark of 45, an IST average of 32 and an IB World average of 30.50. The IST diploma pass rate was 84% and the IB World pass rate was 81.3%.

Gifted and Talented

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
Advisory Programme supports social and emotional development with Homeroom Advisors in the secondary school and class teachers in the primary school. Special Educational Needs (SEN)
IST offers a Learning Support Programme with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Student Success Plans; Learning Support teachers work with students and subject teachers to deliver targeted provision and may provide integrated or separate learning environments. The SEN Coordinator and Student Support Team oversee assessment, planning and progress reviews. Parent Experience

History
Founded in 1963 as the American International School of Torino near Caselle. The school moved to Villa Virginia in the hills of Turin in 1966 and opened the Pecetto campus at Villa Mogna in 1974. NEASC and ECIS accreditations were awarded in 1984, and Villa Roddolo Campus opened in 1985 to support growth. IB Diploma authorization was granted in 1990, the first IB class graduated in 1992, and IB Primary Years Programme and IB Middle Years Programme authorizations followed in 2006 and 2008. A new campus in Chieri opened in 2010 with a Good School Food Programme, and IST celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2023.

Community
The IST community includes students, parents, teachers, staff and the Board of Directors, united in a common goal, to create a wonderful atmosphere for learning. The IST community engages in activities and events that bring families together and support the school. The PTA runs events such as International Day, ISTathon, Winter Market and other activities that involve the wider IST family. Through these activities, families and staff collaborate to support student learning.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The PTA is active in the IST Community, sponsoring fund-raising events and creating a strong partnership between parents and the School. Membership of the PTA is open to all parents and teachers. The PTA aims to foster positive working relationships between parents and the School, enabling parents to contribute to their children's education. We sponsor fundraising events to raise funds for both the School and charities. PTA events include Party Committee, Welcome and Hospitality Committee, Charity Committee, Luncheons, Bake Sale, Winter Market, ISTathon, International Day and Room Parents. Facilities Overview
The IST campus sits in the hills of Turin and blends new and historic buildings that house 40 classrooms. The campus is fully wireless, and classrooms are equipped with Apple TV's and digital screens. The campus includes a multi-purpose Assembly Hall and Gymnasium. Academic & Intellectual
IST offers cocurricular programmes and school clubs that balance the learning experience by giving students the tools to express creativity, think critically, communicate effectively, and learn through inquiry. The UNESCO Club has around 15-20 active members and meets every Monday to discuss ecological themes and environmental issues. The Yearbook Club preserves memories through photography, design, and storytelling. Model United Nations (MUN) provides an academic simulation of the United Nations with IST hosting the Turin Model United Nations conference; students research countries, debate, negotiate, and develop solutions.

Arts & Creative
Primary Performing Arts is a cocurricular course for the Primary Years (Grades 1-5) with rotating modules in Drama, Dance, Choir, Percussion Ensemble and Strings. External tutors include performers from the international stage, including members of the Orchestra della Rai and the Filieradarte Association for Educational Dance.

Languages

Language Provision
The school offers English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish as languages with external language certifications aligned to CEFR standards. English uses Cambridge standards; French uses DELF standards; German uses Goethe standards; Italian uses PLIDA; Spanish uses DELE. External language certifications follow CEFR levels (A1–C2). Preparation for language certifications is embedded in the curriculum, and external exams are included in tuition with IST bearing the costs once for each level. Exams are scheduled in November (French, German, Italian, Spanish); March/April (English in Secondary); May/June (English in Primary and all languages).

Bilingual Teaching
The school uses a bilingual approach within the Italian Programme. Many subjects are taught in English, including social studies, geography, mathematics, sciences, art, music, computers, English as a second language and physical education. Italian is taught to all students, and there is an Italian for Foreigners (IFL) course for non-native speakers.

Immersion Programs
From Pre-Nursery, the school provides a fully English language environment. The environment supports English-language immersion across the early years. The IST Summer Camp is conducted in English.
Admissions

Admissions
IST is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational day school. Priority for admissions is given to international, English-speaking candidates, then to international candidates who do not speak English, and to enrolled students' siblings. Class size is limited, and a waiting list is created once all places in a given class are filled. To enter Nursery, students must be three years old during the calendar year of entry and toilet trained. To enter Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade, students must be four, five, and six years old, respectively, by December 31 of the entry year. IST reserves the right to determine appropriate grade level placements. After First Grade, students are placed according to their previous schooling, official transfer documents, birth date, and English language skills; placement examinations in English and mathematics may be used for Grades 6-12. Students may enter the school with no English-speaking skills at Nursery, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten and will be enrolled in the English Language Center (ELC) program; families pay an additional fee for this program for as long as the school deems it necessary, and the school will make the final ELC placement. In extenuating circumstances, IST may admit students with incomplete admission documents; if, after an initial six-week period, the school does not receive the necessary documents, it reserves the right to exclude the student(s). The Italian Parità Scolastica status in Early Childhood and Elementary School allows IST to offer the Italian national curriculum in Elementary School; in Middle School all students are offered Italian as the first foreign language. High School students are expected to meet the requirements for the IST American High School Diploma, and the school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. Candidates for admission to this Programme should discuss a possible course of study with the IB Coordinator before submitting the Registration Request.

Scholarships
For the school year 2019-2020, the International School of Turin will make available scholarships to students currently not studying at the School, aged seventeen by 31 December 2019, and have completed the equivalent of International School of Turin's Grade 10.
