Billing schedule and payment terms

- Three payment options are offered: Single Payment (one lump sum after deposit), Part Payment (deposit + two further instalments with specified dates), and Monthly Direct Debit (deposit + scheduled direct debits). Dates shown for balances are principally on or before 6 August 2026 and, where applicable, a further instalment on or before 8 October 2026.
- A DIRECT DEBIT mandate must be submitted to the office at least three weeks before the date of the first direct debit. Cash can no longer be accepted for payment of fees.

Other costs and charges

- A EUR 200 administration fee is retained when an application is cancelled before 30 June; where an application is cancelled from 1 July onwards the school will refund fees less the deposit. If a student leaves after the commencement of the academic year the Institute will retain the deposit and a proportionate amount of the fees. No refund of fees is provided after 1 January 2027.
- Accommodation includes a refundable damage deposit (EUR 500) and may incur additional accommodation charges for holiday and exam weeks.

Refunds and cancellation

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Institute of Education prioritises happiness, security and success through a dedicated Wellbeing, Pastoral & Guidance Department. The International Office ensures international students feel supported from day one and monitors their wellbeing throughout the year. History

The Institute of Education was founded in 1969 by Raymond Kearns, who began by teaching maths on Leeson Street. The maths classes expanded to cover the full range of Leaving Certificate subjects, and the school on Leeson Street grew around the demand. Admissions

Admissions

1. Initial Application. An initial application to The Institute of Education can be submitted directly by families or through overseas educational agents by completing the online application form. When applying, select the programme: a 1-year programme (6th Year), a 2-year programme (5th Year), or a 3-year programme (4th Year). The application must be accompanied by copies/scans of the student's passport, the last two formal school reports, and English language exams if applicable. 2. Interview. After the application is received and the student's reports are reviewed, if they meet the academic and English requirements, the student and their parent/guardian (and/or agent) will be invited to a Zoom interview with the International Admissions Officer. The interview covers the student's objectives, motivation and examination results to date, and provides guidance on the curriculum and the transition into the Irish system. 3. Confirmation. Following the interview, written confirmation of the outcome is issued. All students offered a place are asked to accept and secure their place by paying an initial deposit. 4. Induction. Once a place is confirmed, a dedicated international student support officer will work with the family to ensure the student is fully prepared to start at The Institute, with full details of the international student support available. Entry requirements include a minimum of six subjects graded at 70% or higher, English proficiency evidenced by a test such as IELTS (equivalents: 5.0 for 3-year, 5.5 for 2-year, 6.0 for 1-year). Applicants should also submit the English language exam with the application. Documents to accompany the Initial Application include the student's passport, the last two formal school reports, and any English language exam results.
