Curriculum
The school offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) for students from K1 to Grade 5, using a transdisciplinary, inquiry-based approach with six themes: Who We Are; Where We Are in Place and Time; How We Organise Ourselves; How We Express Ourselves; How the World Works; Sharing the Planet. Higher Education Progression
Graduates enter leading universities in Indonesia, Singapore, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States and other parts of Asia. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
The school places students at the centre of the teaching-learning process and embraces the diversity of its students, parents, teachers and non-teaching staff, exploring opportunities to respect and learn from a variety of cultures, attitudes, beliefs and experiences. Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Learning Support and Tutorial are provided; SGIA uses differentiated instruction and offers extra lessons during after-school hours, which last up to an hour, with private tutorials advised as needed to support learning.

English as an Additional Language (EAL)
The main language of instruction is English. Indonesian is taught for local and international students as mandated by the local authority, and Mandarin is offered from Kindergarten 3 (5 years old) and above. The school offers the EAL (English as an Additional Language) Programme for elementary students in Grades 1–5 with non-English speaking backgrounds, delivered through pull-out classes by a specialist EAL Teacher. History
Sekolah Global Indo-Asia (SGIA) was founded in 1998 to serve the educational needs of the national and international community living in and around Batam, Indonesia. Today SGIA accepts students from Pre-School through the 12th Grade. SGIA is the only International Baccalaureate World School in Batam offering the PYP (Primary Years Programme) and DP (Diploma Programme), and is authorized as a Cambridge International Examinations School. English is the medium of instruction in SGIA, with mother-tongue support in Bahasa Indonesia as well as Mandarin to prepare students to be competitive in the global market. Facilities Overview

The campus also has a large covered gymnasium, a large canteen, and grassed pitches for soccer and other activities.

Sports Facilities
Large grassed soccer pitch and a smaller grassed area for other sports and activities. A large covered gymnasium provides indoor space for physical education and team sports. The gymnasium and canteen are covered but open to fresh air.

Academic Facilities
Early Childhood Center has spacious air-conditioned classrooms. Primary building houses art, music, science and IT laboratories and a well-stocked library. After School Activities are offered. These activities give children an alternative to entertain themselves and help develop a balanced learning after a full day of academics.
