It is an Indonesian legal foundation (yayasan) and a French-approved establishment recognized by the French National Education and a partner of the AEFE, with over 30 years of history. The LFB offers trilingual education from kindergarten (French, Indonesian, and English) and started an international section from 6th grade (12 years old) in 2023/2024. In recent years, LFB has added three new facilities, including a new kindergarten in Umalas, and serves preschool to Terminale with about 400 students and more than 25 nationalities.

Admissions

Admissions

Admissions. The Lycée Français de Bali requires all non‑Indonesian students to hold a KITAS visa, either a Family-Accompanying or Student visa, or to be in the process of obtaining one at entry. The school can sponsor eligible KITAS candidates through its visa agent. Sponsorship covers enrolled students only and does not extend to siblings not enrolled or to parents' visas. Sponsorship depends on the student meeting all school rules, paying fees on time, and honoring the enrollment agreement. Once the application is complete, families are connected with the school's visa agent to arrange the required visa.

Non‑French-speaking students. A certain level of French is required or is being acquired. French level by grade: TPS‑PS‑MS‑GS: no French certification required; CP‑CE1‑CE2: level A1; CM1‑CM2‑6e: level A2; 5e‑4e‑3e‑2e‑1e‑Terminale: level B1. The Alliance Française de Denpasar provides French language courses for non‑French-speaking students. Neo‑French-speaking students are supported in their coursework with a FLSCO (French as a Language of Schooling) teacher to help them acquire French.

Language and learning. The school's multilingual approach with active pedagogy and differentiations helps students from varied linguistic backgrounds settle in and progress. Multilingual projects and engaging pedagogy support rapid development.

Tuition and financial aid. The French education system is not free; tuition reflects the cost of delivering education at a French standard and is calibrated to balance financial sustainability with quality teaching. Families facing financial hardship may contact the Consulate for information about scholarships for French nationals, if applicable.

Payment options. There are three annual payment options: A) Annual rates with a discount for full payment before May 15; B) Annual standard rates for full payment between May 15 and August 31; C) Annual rates with a 1.5% surcharge if paying in three installments on the dates below: before August 31 (first), before November 30 (second), before February 28 (third). Payments can be made in Indonesian Rupiah by bank transfer or in Euros by bank transfer; the Euro exchange rate is provided by the Indonesian tax authorities. Credit or debit card payments are not accepted for tuition. For questions, contact the school.

Uniforms. There is currently no school uniform; students typically wear comfortable sportswear in LFB colors.

Higher education with a French baccalaureate. The French Baccalaureate is recognized as a high‑level qualification and enables entry to English‑language universities if the student holds a TOEFL or Cambridge IGCSE certificate; the LFB provides these certifications for students who choose to pursue them. Since 2023 the LFB offers a Baccalaureate with an International Section.

Equivalence of the French system. An international equivalence table maps ages and grades across France, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Indonesia to align the LFB curriculum with international standards.

Attendance and consequences. Absences are tolerated in the preschool years; from CP onward, long absences are generally discouraged as they can hinder learning, and attendance can influence scholarship considerations.

Canteen and meals. The school does not have a canteen, but a paid catering service offers meal options for families who wish.

Admissions testing for non‑French systems. No entrance test is required for kindergarten. Children from other systems are admitted based on an internal placement test starting in collège.

Reading instruction. It is not recommended for parents to teach reading; reading instruction is provided by the school.

Phone policy. Mobile phones are prohibited to maintain a positive classroom environment.

Insurance. The school's liability insurance covers part of medical costs related to accidents that occur at school or during extracurricular activities, supplementing family medical insurance.

Recruitment process. Spontaneous applications can be sent to the admissions email with CV, cover letter, references, and diplomas. The recruitment campaign runs from February to May, and vacancies are posted on teaching‑overseas job sites.

Scholarships

Scholarships. Students of French nationality may be eligible for a government scholarship (Bourse) based on family finances and registration with the French Consulate in Jakarta. If a scholarship is awarded but does not cover all annual school costs, the remainder is the family's responsibility.
