The Bishop's School, Camp traces its foundation to 19 April 1864, when the Bombay Army Quartermaster General established a school for the sons of Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers, starting in an Old Barracks with about 15 pupils. It moved to its present site in 1868 after Khan Bahadur Pudumjee Pestonjee sold the property to the Lord Bishop of Bombay. In 1950 it was registered as a Public Trust under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, and in the 1960s governance was reorganized into two separate societies, with Bishop's School and St. Mary's School becoming legal successors by 1969. Admissions

Admissions
1. Applications for admissions should be made online through the on-line Admissions form available at www.thebishopsschool.org. Log on and follow the instructions on-line to fill in the form. Ensure all required fields are completed accurately and that information about the child and family is correct. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
2. No admission will be considered until all the requirements are fully met. The school reserves the right to verify information provided in the application. Sufficient time should be allowed for processing. Applicants should ensure all supporting documents are submitted as required.
3. Parents/Guardians must give an undertaking, in writing that they will abide by the rules and regulations of the School as made from time to time. The undertaking should be submitted with the application or in the manner described in the Admission Notice. The school may publish updates to rules; adherence is required. Parents are expected to comply with all current rules and regulations.
4. The Principal & Hon.Secretary/HeadMaster does not bind himself to furnish any reason for rejecting any application. Rejection decisions are at the sole discretion of the School. Applicants should not expect a stated reason for non-admission.
5. The documents should be verified and submitted as per the Admission Notice. The Admission Notice will specify the documents required. Documents should be verified as accurate and complete before submission. Delays in verification may affect processing.
6. A transfer Certificate from a recognized school will be required when admission is granted to classes 2 and above. The certificate must be verifiable and recognized. It should reflect the class and the year of admission. Transfer certificates must be countersigned where applicable.
7. If a pupil has come from a different State, the Transfer Certificate must be countersigned by the appropriate Inspector concerned. Only a Transfer Certificate from a recognized school is accepted. If a boy has come from a different country, the Transfer Certificate must be countersigned by the appropriate officer of the Indian Embassy/Consulate in that country concerned.
8. If a Transfer Certificate is delayed as a result of being sent for counter signature, a provisional certificate from the previous school may be submitted. Admissions granted will be provisional till a proper Transfer Certificate, duly signed and stamped by the appropriate authority, is submitted.
9. When a child is admitted on a Transfer Certificate he will not be placed in a class higher than that which the Transfer Certificate shows him to be qualified in the appropriate month of the particular year. He will not be promoted before the end of the school year. There can be no relaxing of this Rule, which is a Government Directive.
10. Admission will only be confirmed on payment of one term's fees. This amount will be credited and adjusted against the first term's bill. The amount is not refundable if a place accepted is later refused.
