G.T. (Ellen Yeung) College, founded in 1996 by the Gifted Education Council, is a co-educational through-train school offering both primary and secondary education, now operating under the Direct Subsidy Scheme. Its secondary campus sits in Tiu Keng Leng, Tseung Kwan O, in the eastern New Territories, somewhat removed from central Hong Kong but accessible by public transport. The school offers a dual pathway: the local New Senior Secondary (NSS) curriculum leading to the HKDSE examination, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme in the final years. Class sizes are modest and emphasis is placed on gifted education, small class instruction, and academic enrichment. A signature offering is its G.T. International Science Project Competition, which connects students across the Greater Bay Area and beyond. In the junior and middle secondary years (Grades 7–9), students follow a broad curriculum including English, Chinese, Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, Arts, and Physical Education. From Grade 10 onwards, students choose between the Hong Kong New Senior Secondary (NSS) curriculum leading to the HKDSE qualification, or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). The HKDSE stream provides a locally recognised route with core and elective subjects, while the IB Diploma Programme offers an internationally recognised qualification, including Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service). Language learning is a strong focus, with instruction mainly in English, Chinese taught as a core subject, and opportunities for third languages. The curriculum is complemented by programmes in science research, arts, and student leadership, reflecting the school’s emphasis on enrichment alongside academic study.
The Moral Education Group (MEG) is responsible for student moral and character development, including organizing value-themed assemblies, class teacher periods, and mentorship programs to support students’ emotional growth. Through MEG, the school provides orientation camps, leadership training camps, and class activities that aim to help students build social skills, resilience, and relationship awareness. They also hold workshops and talks for parents and students on emotional or behavioural topics.
The school is not a specialist SEN institution, but it provides support via the Moral Education Group (MEG). MEG works with teachers to develop differentiated curriculum materials, learning objectives, assessment exemplars, and reference materials for students with mild emotional, behavioural, or learning needs. Through collaboration, they provide extra talks, teacher training, and curriculum adaptation for students needing additional support. They also identify and help students with emotional or behavioural challenges.
The school does not publicly disclose a dedicated EAL (English as an Additional Language) support program.
The school organizes class teacher periods and collaborative activities under MEG to monitor students’ emotional states and provide counseling support when needed.
