Parent Experience

History

The Evangelical Institute Virginia Sapp was founded in 1962 as 'Instituto Evangélico' by American missionary Virginia Sapp with support from the World Evangelical Mission and parents; it was established as a non‑profit providing Christ‑centered education grounded in Christian principles and values. It began with 26 students and was funded by offerings from American churches and parental payments, funds insufficient to cover operating costs, so many teachers and pastors served voluntarily. Due to economic crisis, leaders of the Honduran Evangelical Holiness Church and the World Evangelical Mission founded the Association of Evangelical Institutions of Holiness (ADIEEDS), obtaining legal status on January 2, 1978. ADIEEDS was created to sustain the Institute's vision and development and is composed of volunteers who oversee the institution's operation. In 1982 the name was changed to Instituto Evangélico 'Virginia Sapp' in honor of the founder; in 2001 the Kindergarten and Evangelical Virginia Sapp School was created and bilingual education gradually began in 2005; Spanish-language instruction is now offered from seventh through twelfth grade and bilingual instruction from pre-basic through tenth grade, with first bilingual graduates in science and humanities expected in 2017.

Community

The Virginia Sapp Evangelical Institute maintains an active school community that participates in civic and cultural events. Día de la Independencia Acto Cívico 2023 describes a special civic ceremony with secondary students to demonstrate love for Honduras. Pan American Day is observed on April 14, commemorating the First International Conference of American States during Pan American Week. Inauguración Semana de la Hondureñidad describes the inauguration of Honduran Week with student activities.
