Pinewood American International School is a co-educational day and boarding school in Thessaloniki, serving approximately 600 students from Pre-K to Grade 12. Founded in 1950, it teaches in English and combines an American standards-based curriculum with the IB Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. High School students may also follow the American Diploma, Advanced Placement courses, AP Capstone and selected Global Online Academy courses. The Early Years, Elementary, Middle and High School divisions are located together on the Anatolia College campus in Pylaia. The newer secondary complex includes science laboratories, a library, flexible classrooms, a design studio and a central atrium known as “The Forest,” featuring architectural structures inspired by trees. Students can participate in sports, music, visual arts, theatre, Model United Nations, technology and service activities. A distinctive option is the joint Anatolia–Pinewood IB Diploma Programme, which provides classes of no more than 15 students and access to boarding, university counselling and a broad selection of IB subjects.
