Introduction

ISU is an all-day, English-speaking IB World School in Neu-Ulm, Germany, serving ages 3 to 17. It combines the IB Primary Years Programme for Kindergarten through Grade 5 with the IB Diploma Programme for Grades 11–12, and offers Cambridge IGCSE in the Upper School. Registration, Admission and Deposit

- One-time registration fee: EUR 383. This charge is due once the school contract is signed and is non-refundable.

- Deposit: an interest-free deposit equal to three months' tuition (based on the child's first year at the school) is invoiced latest three months prior to the child starting. The deposit is limited to a maximum of EUR 5,000 per family for up to two children; each additional child increases the family maximum by EUR 1,000. The deposit is normally returned within one month after the child has left the school provided no payments are outstanding; outstanding invoices may be covered by the deposit. Reductions, discounts and pro‑rations

- Sibling reductions on tuition only: the oldest child pays full fees; the second oldest child receives 10% reduction; the third and any further children receive 25% reduction. Reductions apply only to tuition, not to registration/admission fees, deposit or other charges.
- Yearly-payment discount: Families choosing the yearly payment plan receive a 1.0% discount, provided payment is received by the due date stated on the invoice. Specific contract terms can supersede this percentage.

Incidental and additional costs

Billing schedule and payment terms

Admissions
1. Get in touch with ISU's Admissions Team by email or phone. Tell us about your child, your preferred start date and any specific needs. The Admissions Team will answer your initial questions and guide you through the next steps.

2. Visit ISU. Join us for a school tour to see our campus and classrooms in action. During the visit we will explain our programmes, daily routines, and answer any questions. Families who are not yet in Ulm/Neu-Ulm are welcome to arrange an online meeting instead.

3. Student try-out day. Your child is invited for a try-out day with the appropriate class. The day helps us understand their needs and allows them to experience ISU life. The format can vary by age, from a shorter play visit in Early Years to a full or half day for Primary and Secondary students.

4. Online application. Complete the online application form and upload the required documents, such as school reports, passport or birth certificate and medical information. Start the application process!

5. Admissions decision. Our Admissions Team and School Leadership Team review the application, try-out day feedback and available support we can offer. We then inform you whether we can offer your child a place or, in some cases, have to decline the application.

6. School contract. To secure the place for your child, you sign the school contract and confirm the start date. After we have received completed contract, you will receive further information for your child's first day.

Required documents (for all applicants): birth certificate or passport, proof of measles vaccination, last 3 school/kindergarten reports, and any learning support documentation if relevant. If applicable, include custody/court orders, additional medical information, and other documents requested by the Admissions Team. Grade-level documents: Grades 1–5 require a recommendation letter from the current homeroom or Kindergarten teacher; Grades 6–8 require a recommendation letter from the Principal and a handwritten student self-evaluation; Grades 9–12 require a recommendation letter from the Principal and letters from Math and English teachers, plus an official transcript and a handwritten student essay.

Scholarships
ISU offers a Financial Aid Programme providing eligible applicants with societally reasonable tuition fees. Natural persons who are self-payers can apply for a reduction of tuition fees if the family's means prevent full payment. For further information, contact the admissions team or the finance department. Since 2025, Förderverein Internationale Schule Ulm/Neu-Ulm e.V. aims to enrich ISU students' education by supporting projects beyond the curriculum and removing financial barriers to ensure equal opportunities for all students.
