Admissions

Admissions

1. Inquiry and Application. Families begin by submitting a completed application form via email to Adria International School. The application includes required documents, such as proof of temporary or permanent residence in Croatia, the child's birth certificate, and a passport or ID card for the child and for both parents. Depending on the programme, additional documents may be required, including a request for recognition of prior education; for Early Years, the Early Years Development Questionnaire and a pediatric health certificate are also needed. The admissions team reviews the submission to confirm it is complete and ready to proceed.

2. Interview. An interview with the student and parents/guardians is conducted by the Head of School, with input from Programme Coordinators and the Learning Support Team. This interview provides insight into the parents' and student's motivation, the child's psychophysical readiness, and their needs and preferences. It also offers an opportunity to learn more about the school's curriculum and how it supports the student's learning pathway. The outcomes of the interview guide the next steps in the admissions process.

3. Assessment. Depending on the programme and the student's background, assessments may be required to evaluate academic skills, English language proficiency, and readiness. Assessments are arranged by the admissions team and considered in the admission decision. The school may include an English Language Placement Assessment to determine language support needs. Assessment results inform the admission decision.

4. Admission Decision and Notification. The Head of School, with input from Programme Coordinators and the Learning Support Team, reviews applications and assessments to make admission decisions. Decisions are communicated promptly to families. Where appropriate, families are informed about next steps and timelines for enrollment.

5. Enrollment and Orientation. Accepted students complete enrollment formalities, including submission of any outstanding documents and payment of fees, and participate in orientation sessions. Orientation introduces new families to the school community and programme expectations. Enrollment typically occurs before the September start; late enrollment is possible if places are available, and transfers are handled according to policy.
