The German School Santiago is a private, tuition-paying and multilingual school. There is a preschool, an elementary school and a secondary school with middle and upper levels. Our students learn up to grade 4 in a bilingual environment, according to the so-called language concept. In grades 5 and 6 the students then go through the orientation stage, which gives all students the opportunity to study more subjects in German. From grade 7 onward, students can decide whether they want instruction in German or Spanish in grades 7–10. The content and hours are identical and offer students the possibility to take the Abitur. The successful completion of the German International Abitur examination entitles students to attend German universities as well as some Chilean universities with which the German School Santiago has an agreement. The application of a student—regardless of the admission procedure—requires guardians to accept the school's educational project and internal guidelines. The teaching of the German language, as well as instruction in German, plays an important role in our school. In addition to the annual admission procedure for Pre-kindergarten, there are two special admission procedures: in June for admission to the school for the second half of the year and in December for admission to the new school year. In the process for the Prekindergarten admission, information about general admission criteria, application windows, requirements for applicants and documents to be submitted, as well as information about admission tests, fees and payment modalities for the admission process is published between December and March.
