Parent Experience

History

Royal St. George's College was officially established as an Anglican Choir School in 1961, and welcomed its first students in 1964 on the property of the Church of St. Alban-the-Martyr. The College maintains a historic affiliation with the Anglican Church of Canada while welcoming students from diverse religious backgrounds. In 1989, Queen Elizabeth II granted Royal Designation, making RSGC the only pre-university institution in Canada with that distinction. The Cathedral of St. Alban the Martyr became the Chapel in 1964, featuring a Gothic Revival roof that is the only double-hammerbeam roof in Canada. The campus has expanded with a modern classroom wing, science laboratories, a library, and a gym; the Junior School was renovated in the last decade and the Senior School transformation began in 2023.

Community

RSGC is an urban day school located in The Annex neighbourhood of Toronto, and maintains open communication with local residents and city officials as a good neighbour. The campus is on a tree-lined street near Bathurst subway station, and a transit fare program for families encourages use of public transportation. The neighbourhood is rich in green spaces and parks, which are incorporated into outdoor, experiential learning.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

Georgian Parents Guild is a volunteer parent association dedicated to supporting the academic, social, physical, and spiritual environment of the students and the school, in partnership with the Headmaster and the school community. All parents are members of the Guild and may participate in its activities. The Guild organizes events such as the Mistletoe Market, Holly Jolly Auction, Used Uniform Sale, and Cheese Boutique gatherings, along with Parent Coffee Mornings, and seasonal events throughout the year; it also supports Frameworks Arts Night and Used Textbook collections. Meetings are held monthly, with dates announced in the school newsletters and Friday File, and many activities are accessible virtually. The Guild Executive includes roles such as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Past President; the 2025-2026 President is Meredith Roth.
