Fees
Application fees

- Frais d'ouverture de dossier (nouveaux candidats) : USD 50.

Tuition fees by school year (overview and note on detailed grid)

- The school publishes a detailed 2026–2027 fee grid that sets the tuition amount for each secondary year and indicates term billing where applicable. The public pages point to that 2026–2027 fee grid document for the precise per-grade and per-term amounts.

- Programme AZIMUT (soutien pédagogique spécialisé) : USD 2,500 per year; a deposit of USD 300 is required before March 1. This program fee is charged in addition to the standard tuition.

Billing schedule and payment terms

- The school uses a formal fee schedule for the academic year that specifies billing dates, installment options and payment deadlines; specific billing cycles and any penalties for late payment are set out in that schedule. Parents complete payment information when opening a dossier.

Boarding (résidence) fees

- Pension complète (résidence) including three meals per day : USD 6,400 per academic year (this amount is billed in addition to tuition). The residence fee covers lodging, daily supervision and meals.

- Eligibility for government child-care tax credits may apply for residents under certain age thresholds (provincial/federal rules apply) and can materially reduce net cost for families who qualify.

Other mandatory or commonly charged costs

- Portable informatique : a laptop is mandatory for all students. Recommended minimum specifications: Intel Core i5 (10th gen or newer), 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, HDMI port, integrated camera, Windows 11.

- The annual fees package also covers a set of standard services and items (for example: certain educational services, some pedagogical activities, base educational resources, compulsory student insurance and administrative/technology fees). Specific accessory fees (program-specific materials, arts/science consumables, sports extras, student association contributions, transportation, school shop purchases) are itemized in the official fee grid.

Refund information

- The school's refund and cancellation policy (conditions for refunding fees on withdrawal, late cancellation, or mid-year departure) is defined in the official 2026–2027 fee documents. The public summary notes that refund conditions are set in that fee schedule.

Fee payment options

- The admission form collects payment information at dossier opening; the fee documents describe the accepted payment methods and any installment arrangements. Common methods referenced for similar admissions processes include credit card, bank transfer and post-dated cheques, but the precise options and any service fees are specified in the school's fee schedule for the year.

Brief note on level of detail available

- A full numeric breakdown showing tuition by each secondary year (per year and per term), the exact billing calendar, and the complete refund policy are provided in the 2026–2027 "Frais de scolarité" and "Frais de résidence" documents published for the school year; those documents accompany the official fees page and the admissions dossier. The publicly visible pages and admissions form explicitly list the application fee (USD 50), the residence annual charge (USD 6,400) and the AZIMUT program fee (USD 2,500 + USD 300 deposit), and they require a mandatory student laptop meeting the specifications above.

Parent Experience

History

The school was founded in 1947 by the Missionaries of Mariannhill, a South African religious congregation founded by Austrian monk François Pfanner. The school preserves its heritage with values of respect, openness and personal development at the heart of its educational project. Construction began in 1947 on the chemin de Sainte-Catherine, and the first intake occurred in the autumn of 1948 with 11 students. In 1952 the school affiliated with Université de Montréal, and Émile Anderregen became the first official director. The first graduates were celebrated in 1954, including Gervais Giguère, who later became the second director-general (1966-1983). In 1972 the school expanded with its first major football field, and enrollment reached 126. In 1978 the arena was constructed to meet growing sports and cultural needs, and enrollment surpassed 200. In 1983 governance transitioned to a fully lay team, with André Bessette as director-general; the buildings remained the property of the Missionaries. In 1991 the priests' residence moved to a new building opposite the College. From the 2000s to today, the school emphasizes active pedagogy for boys, developing several specialized programs including elite hockey (RSEQ), Esports, outdoor life, and a hunting, fishing and trapping club, while continuing to offer a boarding program that is highly valued by families.

Community

The school fosters student life through a sports and recreation technician who offers activities aligned with student interests and by engaging students in committees such as the Student Council and the Sports Committee to influence decisions. A travel committee arranges international travel and trips along the East Coast of North America, with destinations including New York, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Germany, Peru, and California. Volunteering is encouraged each year for events such as Open House, Megars Day, and the Grade 7 integration day, reflecting CMSA values. Throughout the year, competitions among students and between students and staff, and on-campus activities such as level integration outings, green days, white days, carnival, and major trips to La Ronde and Valcartier, foster community and belonging.

Admissions

Admissions

1) Admissions for 2027-2028 are now open. Applications are submitted through the CMSA admissions portal. The school aims to get to know each prospective student and does not administer an admission test. For questions, the admissions counselor can be contacted. 2) Have the following documents ready to speed the process: birth certificate; final report cards for the last two years and the current year (examples: 2024-2025, 2025-2026, 2026-2027 if available); evaluation reports and supporting documents (e.g., diagnostic report for conditions such as dyslexia, dysorthographia, ADHD; intervention plan; other relevant reports); student permanent code; a non-refundable 50-dollar application fee. 3) There is no admission test. The school wishes to learn about each future student. As part of the admissions process, the son must complete a mandatory questionnaire alone and in his own words; parents should not answer on his behalf. 4) For the AZIMUT program, fill the expression of interest form during the admissions application. This helps determine whether the program meets the student's needs. 5) For the ESports concentration, the son should complete the expression of interest form. This helps CMSA understand his interest and motivation. 6) Click to begin the admissions application. For any questions, the admissions counselor can be contacted. 7) If applying for the current year (2026-2027), contact to verify admission possibilities based on the student's grade level. 8) Admission criteria: the school aims for the student's academic success and analyzes the student's report cards and level of engagement to ensure the school's environment meets the student's needs and provides the best tools to develop his potential. 9) The goal is not to admit the top academic performers, but to welcome boys who will benefit most from CMSA's teaching approach and growth opportunities.
