Introduction

Montessori House Brussels is an independent international bilingual Montessori day school for children aged 2 to 6. Located at Avenue de Tervuren 177 in Brussels, the school occupies a bright early 20th‑century townhouse with a garden and a playground near the EU institutions. It was founded in 2006 by Marcel van Ratingen, an AMI‑trained Montessori guide, and was the first bilingual English–French Montessori school in Brussels. The program follows the Montessori Method, with Nursery (2½–3) and Primary (4–6) classrooms. In Primary, the classroom is divided into Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Cultural areas to support hands‑on exploration, independence and social development while building foundational academic skills. The bilingual English and French curriculum is woven through daily learning. Music is part of the weekly programme, and from age 4 private piano and violin lessons are available with Maria Andreina Montanez during school hours. Twice‑yearly concerts, poetry, arts and performing arts enrich the curriculum; excursions and the Summer Stage programme, together with swimming, support well‑being.
