History
Australian International Academy was established in 1983 as King Khalid Islamic College, Australia's first Islamic school. The first primary campus buildings in Coburg were purchased in 1982 through a donation from the late King Khalid of Saudi Arabia, and the campus was named after him. The Melbourne secondary component began in 1991 with Years 7 and 8, progressing to Year 12 with VCE and IB by 1995, and the Melbourne Secondary Campus opened in North Coburg in 1995.
