Curriculum details
Curriculum details
The school follows the English National Curriculum, adapted to its international setting. In the Preparatory School (Reception–Year 6), students study a broad range of subjects, including English, mathematics, science, humanities, expressive arts, and Mandarin. In Senior School (Years 7–9), the curriculum continues with a wide scope of academic and creative subjects, alongside public speaking through LAMDA. In Years 10–11, students prepare for International GCSEs (I/GCSEs) with a choice of subjects from different disciplines. In the Sixth Form (Years 12–13), students specialise through A Levels, supported by additional programmes such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), LAMDA, and a Mini-MBA developed with IE Business School. Instruction is in English, with additional language options including Mandarin, French, and Spanish.
Curriculum details
Students in the International Stream follow the English National Curriculum in Years 7-9, then take the Cambridge IGCSE in Years 10-11, and complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 12-13.
In the French Stream, students follow the French national curriculum, preparing first for the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB) in lower secondary, then the French Baccalauréat (including optional bilingual or international pathways) in upper secondary.
Across both streams, language acquisition, humanities, sciences, arts and physical education are integrated, with additional options such as Latin, Mandarin, German or Spanish depending on stream. The aim is that by the end of Year 13 / Terminale, students are ready either for higher education globally or in France.
Kellett integrates SEL through its Positively Kellett programme, which is delivered weekly within the timetable. The initiative focuses on equipping students with skills for resilience, empathy, and self-awareness, and is supported by resources and webinars for families. The school’s pastoral care system provides each student with guidance and mentoring, ensuring SEL is part of both classroom learning and broader school life. Trained staff, including counsellors, contribute to this framework. SEL is embedded from Preparatory through to Sixth Form.
Social & emotional learning
The school’s Student Services and Health Services teams operate across all four campuses, including Blue Pool Road, collaborating with teaching staff and university-guidance departments to support students’ well-being, study skills and social development. Activities each year address health, citizenship, sleep, nutrition, organisation and bullying awareness. Students can access peer tutoring systems and are helped to develop organisational and academic habits through educational assistants working with teachers.
Special educational needs (SEN)
Special educational needs (SEN)
The school provides support for Additional Support Needs (ASN) within its mainstream setting. Qualified teachers and assistants deliver targeted and in-class support to help remove barriers to learning. Kellett is not a specialist SEN institution, but it aims to support a range of mild to moderate learning needs where appropriate provisions can be made.
Special educational needs (SEN)
The school offers limited provision for students with special educational needs in a mainstream setting; availability depends on current levels of provision. Upon entry, a baseline assessment (CAT4) may identify support needs; the school may involve external professionals (speech-language therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists) when required. It is not a specialist SEN institution.

History
History
Kellett School was founded in 1976 as a not-for-profit parent association to provide a high-quality British education in Hong Kong. It began as a small prep school and has grown steadily over the decades, supported and governed by its parent body. In 2013, the Kowloon Bay campus opened, bringing together a second Preparatory School and the Senior & Sixth Form under one roof. The school remains parent-owned and operates on a not-for-profit model, reinvesting in facilities and learning.
History
The school was founded in 1963, initially functioning in a small French-language setting with around 30 students in Pok Fu Lam. It later expanded and in March 1999 the Blue Pool Road campus was opened to accommodate the secondary school. Governance is via a not-for-profit structure, with a board including elected parent members and French Consulate representation.

It also supports fundraising initiatives and helps connect new families with the community. Parent volunteers are active in events like fairs, concerts, and outreach activities, ensuring families play a visible role in shaping school culture.
Parent teacher association
Parent involvement is organised through the French International School Community Association (FISCA), which invites parent volunteers to collaborate with students, staff and teachers. FISCA runs “Meet & Greet” breakfasts (e.g., “Get-to-Know FISCA Breakfast”) to bring parents together. It also organises events such as the Uniform & Book Fair at the Blue Pool Road campus (June 2024) to buy/sell used uniforms and books, with proceeds to charity. Parent volunteers may join committees via WhatsApp groups and contribute time according to their availability. Through the year, FISCA hosts social events such as Quiz Nights and community-connection evenings to engage families.
