AESA Prep Academy of Barcelona is part of the AESA international school system and traces its origins to 2009 in Austin, Texas, founded by Rick and Barbara Garza. The founders built a 'small by design' model with small class sizes and individualized support for scholars, athletes, and artists. In 2015, AESA expanded to Barcelona, where Kyle Overby launched AESA Prep International online and later established a blended program in 2016; in June 2020, the Barcelona campus was officially recognized as AESA Prep Academy of Barcelona.
